The CZ-52 is a good choice if you've already got a Makarov. Of course, if you don't get both!

Got a Webley yet?

How many Enfields? Can't have too many - No.1, No.4, No.5, Tanker, Jungle Carbine...

Behold! For my virginal C&R has been lured by  the CZ-52 temptress for thrice a-fortnight!  My will is weak...my wantonous loins caving to this cold, cruel seductress.  The very notion that I might loose the unholy sweetness of 7.62X25 splendor from my grasp is a pleasure tantamount to quaffing the Nectar of Gods!

...The conquering of a high summit!

...The propagation of your Seed through fornication with wenches of distant lands!

I fear I must submit to my desires, lest the strain deliver me into a dark madness...

I would go for the CZ-52 too. Plus I think the price has actually gone down for them.
Czech surplus ammo is available at "Cheaper Then Dirt".

Get a Argie Colt Sistema. These are getting harder and harder to find and the supply is sporatic. I have two that I'll hold forever. Now I'm looking for an Argie Hartford which is even harder to locate.

Wave, don't you have a M44 Mosin-Nagant?  You need one of these to go with it.
M1895 Nagant gas seal revolver

Ammo is sort of a bitch ($$$$Fiocchi) but if you handload then no problem (use modified .32-20 brass).

The Cz52 is the shizznit also.

Rifle or pistol?
Rifle I would suggest these;
Yugo SKS. really kewl grenade launcher and bayonet.
Finnish M39, accurate as hell.
Enfield, either No.1Mk3 or No.4Mk1
Any mauser can be nice and right now Yugos and CZs are easily available and cheap.
For pistols;
A Systema or a Ballester Molina.
A Makarov, east german or russian
Russian TT33
And my recent favorite, A Star Modello A (or B) super.
A 1985 Nagant pistol is really neat but I wouldn't recommend it to a newbie collector. Ammo supply and that gawd awful double action trigger pull can be discouraging.
One more note. If you do your own reloading get a copy of the 2002 Accurate Arms manual. The CZ52 loads they have developed are incredible.
(How does 1500fps with a 110gr fmj sound to you?)

If you don't have a Yugo SKS, I would buy one before they are gone.  Price is right, and they are much more 'cool' than any of the other SKS's.

I'm hoping JLD will have some of these left when I finally have some money.

This is the basic shopping list for people with C&R's. All are must-haves IMHO. Also cheap!

Mosin Nagant: Revolver, M44 Carbine, and M1891(or 91/30) rifle (Add a scope to that, and its a tac driver).
SKS: A Yugo, and maybe a albanian or russian one(or three).
Enfield (any model, heck one of each)
CZ52
Makarov
Mauser (FAC(gunsnstuff.net) sells a nice ww2 mauser/nagant-1891 set)

If you get the CZ-52, there's a guy on rec.guns who says that he's handloaded Hornady XTP's past 1700 FPS at sane pressures.  Not that I'd want to try it though...

Also, be forewarned that the CZ-52 eats firing pins like candy.  www.makarov.com has a newer American made firing pin that doesn't break like the originals.

There's also a troll/crackmonkey on rec.guns (and gunboards.com, & ak47.net, etc, etc) who claims he has blown up several Cz52's with only a slight overlaod.  Never seems to offer any pix as proof, just keeps spamming the same "Cz52's are bad, Tokarevs are good" message.[rolleyes]  He's been banned on a few boards for his inane troll behavior.  I think some Czech bullies must have taken his lunch money & given him wedgies when he was in school.

The Cz52 firing pin is ok as long as you don't dry-fire it.  I'm still on my original pin & have about a case+ thru her.
