Unfortunately, no, but I’ve found the movies that have it do sound better than those without it on my system though.

I’ll go with you and I have both the DTS and DD DVDs.

Awesome benchmark, both of them and I ran theatres for AMC at the time, so I have a reference.

So I understand.  I guess that sums up my respect for Tom Hanks movies.

For opening scenes I’d like “Top Gun”.

The New Star Trek with Chris Pine. The one where his wife was giving birth. It shows the depth of the woofers and the highest of tweeters.

Twister - ETA a lot of the AV stores that I’d go into would use this movie as a demo

Apollo 13, particularly the launch scene

The armored car robbery is great also. On a good system the sound really moves around as the tow truck is accelerating, followed by the impact then the glass breaks.

The one I always used was Terminator, where the terminators are attacking ... you put it on using the TV built-in speakers, then, just before the robot crunches down on the human skull with his foot, you switch over to the surround system - at somewhat higher volume.

"The list?"

Put the BluRay in the player.

Right now.

The Master and Commander BluRay, in case you're unsure, because you seem to be waffling a bit.

Let your family bring the men plates while you're all on the couch.

It has been mentioned, it must be watched.

I don't have a fancy sound bar or stereo system, but this one always seemed to have better sound quality.

Came to post this. The practice scene when Tom Cruise drives the other guys car. I've heard it before with a good surround sound, it was pretty awesome.

My other vote would be the opening of Top Gun.

Blackhawkdown gun runs. On a great system you can hear the brass clinking as it bounces on the ground.

Master and Commander is another one with great background sounds if you’re listening.

Last of the Mohicans for the soundtrack.

+1 for Saving Pvt Ryan. I bought it on 4K disc to test my buddies new home theater. I was sitting right next to one of the speakers and it was visceral.
Lord of the Ring’s would be another great one to do.
