Yea, I found out the hard way that syfi modeling isn’t cheap. I bought the big ass 1/350 Enterprise and the refit. Another small fortune to light. My NX-01 kit, $100+ for lighting. Bought the B9 Robot from Lost in Space and of course the ultra rare glass globe top and the photoetch for great detail. So far I’m in over $125 and the damned lighting kit is another $140, but it also talks. No way you can build this without lights and sound! Also have the 18” Lost in Space Jupiter 2. Another one with a $100+ lighting price tag. I need to just stick to airplanes. Honestly though, my syfi kit collection is maxed out with the exception if they ever produce a large scale model of the Firefly spaceship. |

@Dog1 I love your contributions to the hobby section here. Your builds are awesome.
I’m working on a Guillows balsa P40. I’ve always seen these kits in my local shops for years, and wanted to try one just to break things up. My plan is to finish it differently than most, which is to not really finish it. I’ve always loved exploded parts diagrams and schematics for mechanical objects. While I know the P40 internal skeleton as it sits isn’t really representative of the real plane bones in any scale fashion, I like the look. I’m going to hit it with primer grey and attach the nose cone and canopy and call it done. It will hang from fishing line above my reloading bench.  |

The version I'm building also has a chain link fence mounted to the front that is used as a standoff protection for the b40 rocket. It's nicely made looks like a piece of chain link fence. I'll get back to work on it as soon as I finish up my M48. Last night I did a Coke can and a c-rations individual meal packet for my loader sitting on the loader's hatch.

Currently making a form, to make a mold, so I can lay-up a Carbon body for one of my Rc vehicles.
Currently drying some fill primer so I have a good surface for bondo (I find it doesn't spread as nice, directly on the foam board).  To meet thread requirements, here it is on the bench, last night

The warmer weather has afforded me the ability to shoot some paint on my two current bench residents.
These are my 3rd and 4th AFV builds (with builds one and two both being Tigers, 15-years-apart). So, I'm still learning. For my first excursion into US OD green, I went with XF-62 over preshading on the M-18 but tried the faded look on the M-4(80:20 XF-62 to XF-88). I also gave replicating cast texture a try on the M-4. I probably should have knocked it down a bit with some fine-grit.

I’ve been working on this 1/48th scale F-82 Twin Mustang by Modelsvit. It’s a low production kit so the fit isn’t as good as Tamiya, but it’s really well detailed and I think is going to make a really nice finished product.

Still working on the M4A3 and M18 an hour or two a weekend. I'm actually very satisfied how they're coming along for my 2nd and 3rd ever AFV models. Tried my first attempt at a dot filtering on the M18. I think I'm going to put some weathering/slight wear on its pioneering tools, finish the tracks, and call it good.

This one is a bit big for the work bench. It’s an E-Flite RC FW-190. I’m in the process of repainting it from its sorta cartoonish factory applied scheme. This is my second of this model. I may have a small obsession with the FW-190. The model flies well and has been discontinued…sadly. Anyway, it’s coming along. So far when I could, I used Tamiya AS line sprays cans and now am working on airbrushing the rest. I still have a ton to do…weathering, etc. I included a photo of the first one I repainted…which is still flying. You see it’s a “pretty” airframe while this one is more my style of late war hodgepodge mess of parts complied to make an airframe.

Technically speaking, on the bench is my broken DBX10 (rear bulkhead) and my wife's 1/12 buggy (front swingarm and drive cup). However, I just did some work for my buddy and he gave me this, for my son.

Nearing completion on the old Tamiya M4A3. Probably add a little more stowage and ropes tying it all down. Then a simple cobblestone or brick street base. Haven't decided if I want to try (for the first time) dirt/dust pigments and have this model be a guinea pig. Such is my dilemma with scale models - I never know when I'm done with a model.
