Been on a bit of a documentaries kick lately and have watched a few of Werner's.  This guy makes some interesting films, not only does he tend to find interesting characters his own weird perspective tends to set his films apart from other documentaries.

I just recently watched Into the Inferno,  Encounters at the End of the World and just finished Cave of Forgotten Dreams last night.   I know we had a big thread about Happy People: A Year in the Taiga which he co-directed, that is also a great one.

I haven't seen everything he has done, but I have enjoyed just about everything I've watched of his, all the ones I mentioned above are on Netflix

Jack Reacher:With a name like yours, you're gonna feel right at home.

The Zec:Prison? In America? A retirement home. If I go to prison at all.

Jack Reacher:You think you're gonna walk?

The Zec:You are a homeless drifter wanted for murder. Meanwhile, I am an old man
in the wrong place at the wrong time. Thanks to you, who is left to say
otherwise? Who?

The Zec:We'll see which one of us goes to prison.

Jack Reacher:My bet? Neither one.   [shoots the Zec in cold blood]

Always loved that part of the movie.

Although not a documentary, Aguirre The Wrath of God is a weird Herzog film with Kinsky in the starring role

I watched it years ago, I should rewatch it at some point because my memory is a bit foggy on it.   I do remember it being weird as hell

The only ones normal in "Grizzle Man" was the Bears, including the producer. Quite a study into weirdo'ism.

I thought it was awesome of him to pretend to be making a documentary on an episode of "The Boondocks" about a black child/domestic terrorist who wasn't enthused about the election of President Obama.
He really played up the weirdo German sprockets character part.

Werner Herzog: So then, now that it looks like Obama is going to win, as a black African negro, are you merely excited, or are you extremely excited that everything is going to change forever?
Huey Freeman: Ehh.
Werner Herzog: I felt my sphincter clench and my scrotum contract in shock at his response.

Werner Herzog: So, if the election is fake, what is really going on?
Huey Freeman: The end of America.
Werner Herzog: I felt despair so terrible that I briefly consider slitting my own wrists, or bludgeoning myself about the head with a steel pipe or baseball bat. But I brought no blade, no pipe, no bat.

"Dieter Needs to Fly" is another good one. Not so dark as some of his stuff.

His voice in narration is almost hypnotic in a Joseph Mengele sort of way.
