Finally took the shorty m16 out to see how it functioned after installing a surefire brake a few months ago. Typically this rifle would run 100% with 5.56 ammo but would short stroke .223 unless it had a suppressor on it. It's rather close with the .223 so thought I'd see if a brake made any difference.

Still short strokes .223 but with 556 the blast from the brake seems to push in the throw lever on the surefire m952 and pops it off after a few rounds auto.

I've had the same problem on my suppressed SBR.  I pulled the 952V off and put a 951 back on.

I was planning on putting it on the right rear side but I guess that would work too.

Yes, turning the mount around will fix the issue but that may extend the QD lever over the front of your tape switch if remounted on the left side.

So this may not be the the type of suggestion you’re looking for, but if your M952 lives on that SBR, I personally would eliminate the SF throw lever mount from the equation and go to a low profile HSP Thorntail 620 mount for Surefire Millennium and 620 series lights.

I use both the Thorntail SBR for a M600U and their Offset for a TLR-1HL on two SBRs.  I’ve found the Thorntails to be superb mounts, and the lights are rock solid once you Loctite the screws down, although I do run a Surefire can most of the time on mine.

Hope that presents a useful alternative for consideration…

The blast of sustaining full auto might have move the lever.
I would flip the mount backwards and try, oh by the way, flip the light also, so you won't illuminate yourself.
Or try replacing the mount with a LaRue mount.
