Enough already; guns keep killing

How many more Columbines, Amish schoolhouses and Virginia Techs do we need? We should have learned our lesson by now.

If you are buying 9mm handguns, you are buying them to kill people. To deny that freely available semiautomatic weapons are not literally killing us is lunacy.

Should society suffer because a few gun-crazy, blood-thirsty hunters/National Rifle Association nuts feel the need to kill and insist guns remain available on every street corner? Perhaps they should get counseling for their violent tendencies.

And if you think you're protecting your home by owning a gun, forget that argument. A gun is the most commonly used weapon in domestic homicide.

More than four times as many women are murdered with a gun by their husbands or boyfriends than are killed by strangers' guns. So, a gun in the home is far more likely to be used for domestic abuse rather than for protecting against phantom burglars.

There simply is no intelligent argument you can make for allowing guns to be freely available, as they are now, particularly not semiautomatic weapons. If you think you can make an argument for it, you are simply without morals, judgment or common sense.

....And that's why we need to take them away from cops and soldiers ASAP, because they are using them to kill their wives/girlfriends in domestic disputes, right Mary?

Ugghhh........................

As if my faith in humanity was not already completly destroyed...

I'm watching Carloyn Mccarthy admit that she dosn't know what a barrel shoud is on national tv, even though she is trying to ban them, and I'm thinking "Damn, no one in the history of humanity has ever been that stupid, ever."

Then all of a sudden out of the shadows emerges a new contender for the crown of stupidity.

Way to go Mary, you are really doing a good job showing me the average IQ of my fellow citizens.

No, she's not.

This is some silly chick who is writing an opinion letter to the local newspaper.

McCarthy is a US Congress person who routinely proposes gun control legislation and yet seems to be devoid of a sense of responsibility to know how guns work and exactly how her legislation effects the design, production, and sales of firearms.

That's a much bigger level of stupid.

Almost as stupid as when Shella Jackson Lee was in mission control in Houston,  during the Mars rover landing. She asked if the rover landed near where the astronauts planted the American flag.

Edited for horrific grammar

I propose we create a "know sh*t" rule for Congress. It is a simple rule that states that you have to actually know sh*t to write legislation on a topic.

In other words, if you don't know what a barrel shroud is, you can't write legislation to regulate one. People with actual knowledge of a topic being in charge of policy on that topic....

What a f*cking novel idea!

Good thing I only have a .22 and a .38.  And people don't get killed by .45, .40, .357, etc etc.

Even better, how about they need to show how the proposed legislation will actually work, and if it doesn't in a certain amount of time, it's automatically rescinded and the bill's sponsors get un-elected.

Yeah, good thing I only have a 45. I wouldn't want my 9mm to alter my mind into that of a violent criminal, and force me to kill my girlfriend in an act of domestic violence.

A libtard thinks:

Hmmmm. The laws making it illegal to kill people aren't working, even though it might result in an execution or life in prison.

I know - we'll make it illegal to own a gun, with a fine and a few years in prison! That'll do it!

Someone do the math, I have niether the time nor energy at this hour. Answer these 3 questions.
1. How many people are shot and killed every year in the US?
2. How many guns are sold every year in the US?
3. What is the ratio of gun sales to deaths every year in the US?

with 260,000,000-400,000,000 guns held privately in the US it is a wonder any of us are left standing.

...but seriously, someone do the math.

Only two 9mms?  You don't have enough.  You need at least three for them to form a critical mass.

In the spirit of "Some things are so stupid, only an intellectual can believe them," I give you this other letter from that page of letters to the editor.  While Ms. Brewer's contribution is ignorant and hysterical, it at least pays some tribute to the notion that one ought to make an argument based on testable statements.  The following, from a Professor Downey of "Science and Technology in Society," is not so limited by tired, patriarchal, classist assumptions.  While one experienced in reading this sort of blather gets the point anyway, viz., (white, heteronormative) SOCIETY is to blame, it is through no fault of the writer, whose contribution doesn't make any sense at all:

Embrace Tech's Korean parts
Virginia Tech is part Korean. We at Tech need the Korean and Korean-American members of our community to continue doing what they do and being whom they are.
Their active and continuing contributions to the university community help us all know and remember that we are part Korean. We are part Asian.
It is now the responsibility of those parts of us who are not Korean or Asian to embrace those parts of us who are. We share the responsibility of learning.

Well, I certainly don't need anymore because the ceaseless whining that goes on afterwards is impossible to escape from!  How many people died from car accidents on that same day?  How many from illnesses relating to smoking?

These types of guns have been widely available since the early 1900s.  It has only been since the 1960s--when the Baby Boom generation decided they weren't going to follow the established rules of civilization that things really left the tracks.  They have set a precedent that succeeding generations have followed and now we are at the point where any shithead with any stupid beef about whatever can perpetrate a mass murder and everyone blames the guns.  That's the lunacy.  The misuse of "freely available"  drugs is why Ms. Brewer and people like her can't think straight nor accept any level of personal responsibility.

Should society suffer because a few gun-crazy, blood-thirsty hunters/National Rifle Association nuts feel the need to kill and insist guns remain available on every street corner? Perhaps they should get counseling for their violent tendencies.

Should all gun owners suffer for the sake onf one idiot who was not an NRA member?  It is not the NRA people going out and committing these crimes.  I have no violent tendencies except towards those who are intent on doing me harm.  There's more than a minute distinction being missed by this woman.

And if you think you're protecting your home by owning a gun, forget that argument. A gun is the most commonly used weapon in domestic homicide.

As if domestic homicide would simply stop after the guns are taken away?  Cain and Abel lady, Cain and Abel.

More than four times as many women are murdered with a gun by their husbands or boyfriends than are killed by strangers' guns. So, a gun in the home is far more likely to be used for domestic abuse rather than for protecting against phantom burglars.

It sounds like a bullshit VPC statistic to me.  What Americans really need help with is their interpersonal relationship skills.  This whole damn country acts like a bunch of 10 year olds and it drives me nuts.  Our problem isn't guns, our problem is that so few people manage to grow up.

There simply is no intelligent argument you can make for allowing guns to be freely available, as they are now, particularly not semiautomatic weapons. If you think you can make an argument for it, you are simply without morals, judgment or common sense.

I can make plenty of intelligent arguments, my morals are fine, and my judgment and common sense are completely intact, thank you.

Here's a map of Dallas.  The blue dots signify "phantom" residential burglaries last year.  What a stupid twit.

Sheila Jackson-Lee also proposed that the Columbia astronauts receive the CMH.
