I'm not really all that sad and I knew something was coming (i had my $hit all boxed up)
But their cause for termination was actually one of the few things I didn't do. F*cking floors me, lots of reasons, but this was one of the few things I actually didn't do. I f*cking hate HR pricks. F'em Guess my side business better take off. I was really hoping to get laid off though, that part does suck. I hate corporate america, I'm not going back. I'd rather starve under a bridge than go back to being a wage slave. |
Sometimes that's what it takes to move on as person or in your career.
ANd you're right, corp america is BS. |
I feel for ya.
I got canned many years ago for something I didn't do. The corporate assholes from the company lied their ass off and prevented me from getting unemployment for 3 months. When it came time for the unemployment appeal, the fuckers didn't show, so the whole thing was dropped and I got the unemployment. I wonder how things would be if the laws were written to protect the employees...instead of the employers? |
Just look at Kalifornia, New York, or New Jersey. I think I'll keep my guns and go into business for myself. |
Ya, no doubt. What was the reason? Its like a carrot hanging out there. |
They said I had told some people that their plant (they worked for me) that it was closing. I never told them. It's pretty f*cking obvious and people just put rumors together. And fo course, I asked the bitch HR rep if she asked the people who I could have told and she just went off on these long BS explanation about we had an invesgitation, blah blah blah, which of course means No. F*ck em. I'm moving on. Going to give this business a go and see if I can make it pay enough, I've been settting it up for a year, just another 3 months would have been nice. oh well. But I really want a beer. |
File for unemployment and try to enjoy your semi-paid vacation.
Hey look at it this way...7 day weekend. |
That hits a funny bone for some reason. |
Now you're the boss, drink beer when you want to. |
Roll with it and work on your business. It's the best thing you can do.
They may have done you a big favor and given you the opportunity to find real success, instead of just working for someone else. Good luck getting your biz rolling. |
Are you SERIOUS????? Try being an employer. See how you feel then. |
Sorry to hear it man. Good luck on your new venture. I hope the best for ya.
As far as the assholes who canned you go, just remember this little tidbit of wisdom from my favorite band, Kamelot, in their song "Karma"... "All the things you do in life come back to you." They'll get what's coming to them... someday in some way they'll reap from the seads they sewed. |
Hang in there and be prepared for the ups-n-downs over the next several weeks. Some days are better than others! (Been there w/ ya')
Work hard....for yourself!!! Lex |
Best luck to you.
I am sure that you quit before those @$$holes fired you. "I retire." [scarface] |
This is a right to work state. You can be fired for any reason under the sun except for those restrictions imposed by the federal government. Boss doesn't like the color of your eyes ... you're fired. Except with the job market booming employees are looking hard for qualified folk. |
At will. |
Best of luck. I hope your side biz goes well, its alot of work, but if you can be the best of the best, you can do it. My old boss was in the same boat you are now 7 years ago, he is doing quite well.
Sorry to hear....but its just a fact that an employer can make up any BS excuse to get rid of someone when they don't want you anymore.
While that isn't always the case, its very common place. |
I ever leave the job I'm at for whatever reason, I will never work for some else again.
I'm sick of making other people rich. |
I've had to go through this myself first-hand, as well as recently second-hand (hell, THAT case concluded just today, as a matter of fact).
It sucks all around, but it all depends how you roll with it. In both the cases above, we discovered it was the best thing that could have happened to us. Good luck and keep the faith. |
yep,
in tennessee you can be fired for anything at all except not doing something illegal. it is a free fire state. collect unemployement ETA: pg 2 is mine |
Have the beer and give your business your all so it can succeed
I think you have grounds for a legitimate lawsuit. But only you can decide if that's what you want to pursue. |
They don't have to pay anything (colorado is an at will state).
But the last couple years, layoffs have always been about 12 weeks of pay (3 months) I was hoping to get laid off, guess that didn't work. BTW, you can't collect unemployment if you are "fired for cause", they'll fight it. Laid off, you can collect. (at least here in Colo, may be different in other states) Besides, I have a job, I've got my own business. And, the phone rang between posts here, so I've got some more work booked this week. We shall see, I've been building towards this, as I said, for a year. Almost no debt, extra cash, and lots of ads running. It's got to be better, got to be. Besides, there was plenty of $hit for them to fire me over, just not what they actually did. (like, for example, it's a good thing they didn't look in the top of my lunch box, might have violated one of their workplace polices, if you know what I mean ) |
Generally, if a company liked you.....but would like to see you go or has to let you go. Getting laidoff is the nice thing to do and pay you a severence..2 weeks, a month, 2 months, etc. But I don't think paying severence is a must do. |
I've heard that before, so I took the advice and have my own business fixing sprinklers. You should try it. |
Right to work actually has nothing to to with the conditions under which you can be fired, or whether or not you are subject to non-compete agreements (another common misconception). "Right to work" means that you can take a job in a shop organized by a union but you don't have to join the union. |
Well Boz,
Looking at your name, I am making an assumption at where you are from. You know when Fall semester starts at MSU there will br lots of jobs opening in Boze-berg. I have been trying to get back there (ok, the whole stste) for a year now. Just no jobs that I want to do! I wish you luck man! -Mills |
Good luck. I nearly got steamrolled by the asshole HR/asshole management machine. Not fun.
I have said it before, I will say it again, HR "people" are god damned parasites that do nothing but justify their paycheck by F**king up the works wherever they can. They (my management and HR) enjoyed trying to break me. They ignored years of good performance reviews from my previous manager. They could have made up some BS to can me but that wasn't enough. The only reason I can see them doing this was out of pure maliciousness. They set goals they knew I couldn't make, they said I was no good and would never be an Engineer. They were wrong. Went for a technician interview at my current company, got an Engineering position offered to me. Enjoy my work and am doing well. Hang in there, it will all turn out. |
While I feel bad for you, our country would be no where without "corporate America."
"Fired for cause" is often rejected by the unemployment folks, or the company does not fight it when it comes right down to the nut-cutting. Give it a go anyhow...you paid into the system. We all know the reason is bogus but they would have made up something else if this had not worked. It was coming no matter what and you even said as much a little while back IIRC.
Good luck on the new job. I dunno what it is but you got your shid together pretty well on home reno work so if all else fails, that may work out for you. |
Yes, I'm serious. I have seen firsthand many cases where an employee was fired by a lying employer, with the employer never having to provide proof of the supposed actions of the employee that resulted in the firing. Sorry, but the Unemployment Office is gonna side with the employer is almost every case. I've actually heard the owner of a company say he would do whatever it takes to fight a former employee over receiving unemployment. Being an "At will" state basically means we can say and do whatever we want to you and there's nothing you can do about it. That's fucked. |

Rumor mills are the worst. My last company got taken over and the first thing the new boys told us, "don't feed the rumor mill". I never did. What they do? Fire everyone and plans to move the company south of the border. Great. Critical heat transfer components made for the US aircraft such as F-35, F-22, Longbow, F/A-18 are gonna be made outside of the USA.
So you are a thief as well? Sounds like they did the right thing. Just remember that when you get ripped off. |
no dumba$$ we're on a gun board, think!!!!! Starts with a G, ends with a 19 |
You stole a G19 |
file for unemployment tomorrow. If denied, you can appeal. When your notified of the appeal request the judge to supena your records and include the investigation. |
You have no imagination whatsoever do you? He might have been hinting he might have had a gun in his box! AS opossed to takeing a GMC out one piece at a time! Bob |
In that case, carry on. FYI..Apply for unemployment anyway. If they are smart they will let it go. |
