Where's the burnout pic? Comeon man! You buy a GT, and there is no burnout pic? Ford people

come on. You need to do a burnout! Where are your balls!

too bad I'm a financial failure...that sounds like a lotta fun to me. Enjoy! And if someone responsible and less fortunate asks to drive it, let 'em have a spin.

The Cobra is labeled the Cobra GT500 or GT500. (Rumors are the Cobra name is off the project.) It is slated to be out next year. It is supposed to have a 5.4L DOHC (4 valves per cylinder.) supercharged/ blower engine.
www.musclemustangfastfords.com/features/mm_0503w_fords_cobra_gt500/

I haven’t heard anything about Ford continuing the Mach1. I know the last year Cobra was a 4.6L DOHC with a blower making 375 HP, but I hadn’t heard any talk of that model continuing either.

Did they say the Mach1 was going to have the same engine 375HP engine the Cobra had? That would be sweet. The older Mach 1’s had a naturally aspirated Cobra engine. It’s faster than the GT but cannon fodder for the Cobra.

Vortech makes a supercharger with an intercooler for the 05, and 06 GT Mustang that’s bad. With some tuning they have been getting over 520 HP out of the “Race” kit.

Congrats on stepping into the new Mustang. Your R/T was it a Neon?

They really are sexy.......

The GT500 should be a hoot.

You bastard... now I've gotta spend the next few months begging the wife for one!

Good for you dude. I'm VERY jealous! That's a smooth car. One of the best on the market right now as far as I'm concerned.

I like everything about the new Mustangs. I gotta admit, even being a life long diehard Mopar guy, a new `Stang is what I would buy right now! Maybe in the spring..... I only need one more NFA toy first....

Very nice.
I have wanted a Mustang GT since high school, marriage, kid and I still don't have it, maybe next year.

Nice Mustang. I had a '99 35th Anni a few years back. The new one is a HUGE improvement on the old Fox chassis.

Enjoy yourself but keep an eye out for the Fuzz.

You mean something like this:

show.imagehosting.us/show/709458/0/nouser_709/T0_-1_709458.JPG

That's the wifes 35th Anniversery Convertable. The SOHC 260hp has been modified to K&N Cold Air intake and Flowmaster welded racing cross over stainless exhaust system

Tj

That's the one 'cept mine was a black coupe.

She was fun to drive. I traded her in on an '02 Camaro SS in November of '01. That was a faster car but the Mustang handled better and was put together more tightly and with better quality interior mat'ls.

Mustangs always sound better, too.

Compared to what?

That's more Hp than has ever been put in a small block production Pony car ever and even more than many or not most of the large blocks includeing the vaunted 351 Cleveland of the early 70's.

It's faster than the Nisson Z, BMW Z, and Charger R/T. Only thng close is the butt ugly GTO at $5,000 more which btw the Mustang smokes on the curves or jump up into the $40,000 plus sports cars.

Its no Vette but it does have a back seat.

You want to talk modifieds, let's talk about my 440 69' Charger. New cars, I'm happy with what I bought.

Go pee on someone elses parade.

Tj

He may be referring to the Evo and STI, neither of which would be cross-shopped with a Mustang, IMHO. Different marketing target.

Could be buddy but still not more Hp or ft/lbs than the GT and I'm a tad too old for Fast and Furious rice burners.

Hell a Kawasaki Ninja is only around 130hp and will do the quarter in the low tens. Apples to apples here guys.

Tj

I hear you on the F&F bit. Not really my style either.

The Evo and STI (although goofy looking) are quite fast from the factory and can be made significatly faster for not too much more money. That's the advantage of a factory forced induction engine. The '03-'04 supercharged Cobras exhibit a similar level of power gain for minimal investment.

The ugly twins are also somewhat lighter than the Mustang GT, in particular the Evo:
Evo - 3175 lb
STI - 3351 lb
GT - 3450 lb

WIth high 12 to low 13-second stock 1/4 mile times, the Evo is certainly underrated from the factory. Japan has a voluntary manufacturer's ban on production cars making more than 276 hp. In reality, the Evo makes closer to 350 at the flywheel.

If only it sounded like a V-8 and was easy on the eyes.

I think the new mustangs are pretty sweet and i'm not one to like the fords.

you want a nice car, look at the Dodge SRT8.

6.1-liter HEMI® V8 engine
425 horsepower, 420 lb-ft of torque

The interior isn't as retro as the other Mustangs. It has completely different gauges. Personally, I prefer the retro gauges. But seeing as how it isn't my price range either, it doesn't matter that much.

Sure does sound sweet when it's idling.

I did bud. The peformance was close to the same and the car simply doesn't cut the muscle car look. It was actually the car I was holding off to buy. Its a Magnum with a spoiler.

Knowing my luck they will come out with the Pepsi bottle body next year.

For everyones sake lets hope like hell they don't bring back that design.

TJ, as an Intrepid R/T owner, that's the Charger I wish they had built too.

There still are rumors about a 2door LX for late 2006 though..

i really didn't like the design change in 1971 i think the B bodies started going down hill from there. I agree there are some styling queues they could have done better with but all in all i like the new charger, it at least has a respectable power plant under the hood. they deffinitely need to produce that 2 door version.

Face it Dalmer screwed the pooch on the design. This is coming from a thrid generation Mopar driver and still own three.

This is the concept car. What the hell happened?

I would have been all over that car even close to it.

True Charger=2 doors and manual tranny.

Tj, you made a good choice with the 'Stang.

I'm 29 but I've already done the muscle car thing with the aforementioned '99 Mustang GT and '02 Camaro SS. I earned myself a few BIG tickets and got tired of worrying about cops all the time.

At this point, if I'm going to spend the money on a new car it will be a near-luxury sport sedan such as the Infiniti G35, BMW 330i, Acura TL, or Audi A4. Such a car is plenty of fun to drive but also offers more refinement, comfort, and practicality than a muscle car.

Is my gray hair showing?

3 valves and it only gets you 300/320?
Only gets 25 mpg on the highway?

Gosh, my T/A gets close to 30mpg on the highway . . oh, but then, I have a manual 6-speed tranny. . .
Can it even come close to the 170mph my 2002 T/A can reach on the highway?
The only way to get the wind in your hair in a Ford is to buy a 'vert,
Ford never did catch on to the idea of anything like T-Tops did they?

Gosh, maybe you outta take it back and buy an olde, used LS1 T/A!

As far as the 4 door charger I guess you just never really know what will sell well.

When subaru first came out with the WRX sedan they also sold a bunch of WRX wagons. Which IIRC really suprised Subaru.

If you want refined try the new GTO. my friend has one and it is so nice inside. Gm has never offered a car that nice. the camaro and firebird int. were junk. even the corvette was made fun of untill this year. Of course it doesn't look like a gto but its faster gets better mpg and has a 6 speed. The new mustang doesn't even have a 6 speed. remember the old days when you pumped up a 5.0 you had to change the tranny because it couldn't handle the extra power. I never had that problem with my gm cars with 6 speed.
