"When you put it into people’s hands, it really puts a smile on their face,” joked Daniels. "People will seriously tell us, ‘I never thought I’d be this excited about a roll of bathroom tissue.’”

It's going to take a little more that getting rid of the cardboard to get me excited about toilet paper.

That's great, unless you make cardboard tubes for a living.

There wouldn't be so many leftover tubes if the TP these days was not half air.

My wife buys that fluffy stuff and between her and our daughter, they go through a tube a day.

It's because the rolls are mostly air. They don't roll that paper tightly on the tube.

Why do women go thru SO MUCH toilet paper? It just me and the wife and she can use 4 rolls a week. I can get by using my bare hands or CTD catalogs, but four rolls of TP? What the Hell?

I feel your pain. Yesterday I put a fresh roll in the bathroom and somehow it was gone by the time I got home from my buddies place.... I was there 3 hours and my wife was the only person home.

Should we stifle innovation just because a few will lose their job?

You know, they should make ammo that doesn't need a casing.

There has been tubeless toilet paper in public bathrooms for a few years now. It is used at the company i work for. Although it is in the large rolls.

But, but the children!  How will they be able to make crafts at school and the library without toilet paper tubes?  What's next?  Paper towels?

I've been hoarding tube TP for years, I'm all set.

Lately though I've just been wiping my ass with pictures of Joy Behar anyway.

Damn druggies

It turns out that over the last twenty years the U.S. hash pipe industry has lobbied Kimberly-Clark and other toilet paper manufacturers to eliminate the cardboard center tube.   Hash pipe executives claim that the tube was "clearly an unfair impediment to the sales of medium and high-end hashish consumption devices."

http://open.salon.com/blog/rogerf1953/2010/10/29/hash_pipe_industry_lobbied_for_tubeless_toilet_paper

When asked how much revenues are expected to increase, an industry source paused for a moment then said, "Dude, I'm sorry, did you just ask me a question?"

No, not at all.  I just like to find the black lining in some things.
