Ventured out this weekend, in 0 degree temperatures and did some shooting:

put the first rounds through a 91/30 with a loaner bolt. Worked like a charm and the bore is in fantastic shape, shoots very high, but its compensatable.

I'm alive!

hot drink in cold weather is a requirement

here we have just completed the hike back up to the cars, you'll notice the fancy all wheel drive Subaru completely bottomed out in the snow in the upper right hand corner, that took about an hour and two attempted towing's to get out, but we did it

all in all a good outing, but I cannot fucking wait for summer.

Yes Indeedy, that's where we always go, but much less frequently in the winter.

Could be, I don't know a damn thing about tractors.

your a brave man preban.  i have gone shooting once this winter but it is really hard when you get up and the thermometer says -4.  Is that the range that someone got hit by a stray bullet from recently?

Great job!

Bigger balls than I... Well, actually, with it being that cold, probably not, but you get the idea.

IBTH.

In before the haters!

I certainly hope not. [>:/] did that happen?

We've been shooting every Friday and Sat this winter, except for that -30 cold snap we had a little while ago. In the beginning it was a fun challenge...now it's just brutal and hard to keep your hands warm. When it starts getting into the single digits, the guns have a hard time running. This is the third year in a row we've shot all winter long. Wish I had the money/time to open an indoor range.

How do you like the eotech mounted on the handgaurd like that?  I've been thinking of doing it to one my SBR's.

That kind of shooting is fun in small doses.

Hey dude

Where about in VT are you located? I'm in the Lake George, NY region, and am
only a short skip and a hop away from the NY/VT border.  Let me know if you
would like to hookup sometime to shoot. It's always cool to meet new people
from this site.

that's a buddy of ours, I'd recommend against it. little eothingy computers don't take kindly to all the associated heat and vibration of being mounted above a barrel. If you were going to mount there, I would only consider it with an aimpoint, and even then why bother? if you have a flattop its best to use it.

... while the tractor sat idly by watching and laughing at your shenanigans the whole time...

Dude, count me in. I'll make the trip. Just give me a time and a date. Perhaps we
could even get a few other guys from upstate NY and the VT region to join in. It's
always cool to meet up with new shooters from this site. IM me with the facts.

Yes Indeedy, that's where we always go, but much less frequently in the winter.

I'm going there soon with a buddy from work. I'm about a mile from there right now as I work at CHP near the Shelburne museum. Let me know if you want to meet up, we always go right after work ~2:45pm.

How far down can you drive with all the snow?

not far, we parked up by the junk heap and hiked down, lucky fuckers with trucks were driving all the way down to the rifle range like it was nothing.
