...I'm sorry to report that a good friend of mine passed away on Christmas night... We were friends for about 20 years, and spent 10 of those in a motorcycle club together - we also belonged to the same R&G Club, and hunted together quite a bit... My friend's name was Samuel Dumeres, and his nickname was Lupo - and he was the kind of guy that would help anyone out, and give you the shirt off his back... He did a tour in Vietnam(USMC), and spent quite a few hours at the VA hospital, battling the effects of Agent Orange - and I have to say that it opened my eyes to the shameful neglect our country has shown towards it's Vets... I guess that about covers it...

A friend of 20 years is a pretty amazing thing. Given that a friend is someone we choose to be around, not a relative that we must at least occasionally associate with.  In many ways I am closer to the one or two long term friends that I have than I am to my family.  May God be with you and bless you.  My sympathies.

My condolences, georgestrings,  friends like that are hard to come by.

AO was some bad juju, the worst of the "Rainbow Herbicides", still scares me to this day.

RIP Marine.

I can remember being about 10 years old and walking to the Iowa Veterans Home to read WWII book in their library and get first hand accounts from many of the old timers who seemed far more than happy to share their experiences with me.

I remember thinking how strange it was that I seemed to be the ONLY one who figured out how great that place was. I always wondered where the other kids were. Nothing on TV came close to first hand accounts.
