Dawn of the Dead is by far THE best zombie flick.  Resident Evil is for little girls who play to much XBox

It was meant to be cheesy! Stark, bare , surreal

They pulled it off quite nicely!

Agreed. It also had the funny social commentary on American consumerism.

These are not movies.  They're documentaries.

Get it right.

Place it in the context of the time and era it was made in. You don't compare it to a modern movie like Resident Evil, which wasn't even technologically possible to make at the time the Dead movie was made.Look at what its contemporary movies were.

DOTD 1978 scared the living shit out of me when I saw it in the movies as a kid. Of course by today's standards it looks cheesy, but back then it was groundbreaking in it's graphic gore and violence. You have to keep things in perspective. One of my top 10 movies of all time, but then again I'm a zombie fanatic

I did think that the scence where the zombies were tearing up the bikers was pretty graphic for the time.

I also noticed that Sex Machine from Dusk Till Dawn was one of the bikers too!

Any movie that has the characters arm themselves, then hold target practice in the shopping mall gets a pass in my book.

That guy is Tom Savini. He does all the make up special effects in the ..of the Dead movies. He always has some bit part in them too. In the new Dawn, he was the Sheriff that tells 'em all to shoot 'em in the head. They stay down permanent when you shoot 'em in the head.

I suggest "Night of the Living Dead" if you want an original.

I've got that one too!

One of my favorites.

Anyone know how 28 Days Later was?

Not your traditional zombie movie. The "zombies" weren't really zombies at all but rather living people infected with the "Rage" virus. I guess it fits into the same genre (did I really just say "genre"?). Worth a look.

About the same but you had to lead the zombies a little more. They were faster that the old model of zombie.
