Consider this: If all the slackers in the world disappeared tomorrow, the video game industry would collapse; but, if all the Ward Cleavers of the world disappeared tomorrow, civilization would collapse.

IIRC, that actor that played Ward Cleaver was a Methodist minister.

I wish that message was shared more broadly.

We seem to worship at the wrong idols too often.  Make a huge deal out of celebrity and excuse irresponsibility

Kind of interesting how the Drapers, Cleavers, Nelsons, and Petries all lived in well kept neighborhoods despite not having HOAs.

Did Ward Cleaver ever have to work on plumbing in the show? I don't think so. Sure he's even when nothing real ever goes wrong. Leave It to Beaver was all about a show with problems that weren't real problems.

Did the beave get wasted at school? no
Did the beave smoke pot? no
Did Wally get a girl pregnant? no
Did mom wreck the car on the same month the water heater went out and dad had a big project due? no.

I guess being the man in your recliner keeps all the bad shit from happening.

Now I've got to go fix the fucking sink.

It is. The last line about how civilization would crumble without the Ward Cleaver-types is spot on.

Those rarely happened because it was culturally unacceptable.  We have become an overly permissive society to the point it is celebrated (YOLO).

OP, this is a great article that has been posted here before and runs in parallel with your video.

It describes how critical is it to do something useful for society or you will never succeed.  No bitching.  No moaning.  Just do your fucking job.

For the rest of you, I want you to try something: Name five impressive things about yourself. Write them down or just shout them out loud to the room. But here's the catch -- you're not allowed to list anything you are (i.e., I'm a nice guy, I'm honest), but instead can only list things that you do (i.e., I just won a national chess tournament, I make the best chili in Massachusetts). If you found that difficult, well, this is for you, and you are going to fucking hate hearing it. My only defense is that this is what I wish somebody had said to me around 1995 or so.

The World Only Cares About What It Can Get from You

Let's say that the person you love the most has just been shot. He or she is lying in the street, bleeding and screaming. A guy rushes up and says, "Step aside." He looks over your loved one's bullet wound and pulls out a pocket knife -- he's going to operate right there in the street.

"OK, which one is the injured one?"

You ask, "Are you a doctor?"

The guy says, "No."

You say, "But you know what you're doing, right? You're an old Army medic, or ..."

At this point the guy becomes annoyed. He tells you that he is a nice guy, he is honest, he is always on time. He tells you that he is a great son to his mother and has a rich life full of fulfilling hobbies, and he boasts that he never uses foul language.

Confused, you say, "How does any of that fucking matter when my [wife/husband/best friend/parent] is lying here bleeding! I need somebody who knows how to operate on bullet wounds! Can you do that or not?!?"

Now the man becomes agitated -- why are you being shallow and selfish? Do you not care about any of his other good qualities? Didn't you just hear him say that he always remembers his girlfriend's birthday? In light of all of the good things he does, does it really matter if he knows how to perform surgery?

In that panicked moment, you will take your bloody hands and shake him by the shoulders, screaming, "Yes, I'm saying that none of that other shit matters, because in this specific situation, I just need somebody who can stop the bleeding, you crazy fucking asshole."

"I don't get it. Would it help if I put on a lab jacket? Here, one sec, let me just ..."

So here is my terrible truth about the adult world: You are in that very situation every single day. Only you are the confused guy with the pocket knife. All of society is the bleeding gunshot victim.

If you want to know why society seems to shun you, or why you seem to get no respect, it's because society is full of people who need things. They need houses built, they need food to eat, they need entertainment, they need fulfilling sexual relationships. You arrived at the scene of that emergency, holding your pocket knife, by virtue of your birth -- the moment you came into the world, you became part of a system designed purely to see to people's needs.

"Here's that shit you needed. Now fuck off."

Either you will go about the task of seeing to those needs by learning a unique set of skills, or the world will reject you, no matter how kind, giving, and polite you are. You will be poor, you will be alone, you will be left out in the cold.

Does that seem mean, or crass, or materialistic? What about love and kindness -- don't those things matter? Of course. As long as they result in you doing things for people that they can't get elsewhere.[/color]

The 50's Aren't Coming Back (Response to Prager U.)

Published on Dec 13, 2016
Ignoring the last two waves of Feminism and the gynocentric stripping of men's authority and pretending it's the 1950s is so retarded that it's an insult to the retarded.

------------------------------

This video takes the Prager U argument apart, piece by piece.

There is so much to take issue with the new, plastic, traditional conservativism.

Perhaps.
That being said the Warden wasn't sucking dick or "confused" about his gender.
Nor were the vast majority of men from that time frame.
I'll take old boring Ward any day over some pompous pussy like Bill Maher any time.

Perhaps this is a good time for me (the OP) to mention that I am a woman and this is not a LBAW (Let's Bitch About Women) thread?

I'll add that if you want a June Cleaver type of wife, you need to be a Ward Cleaver type of husband.

Ward Cleaver was awesome, and he did not rule over June, and it seemed like she was happy having him being the man of the house because he was a decent man and not a douchebag. He didn't have a pimp hand. He wasn't that kind of guy.

I believe in the vital importance of good fathers and husbands. My father was a wonderful dad, totally dedicated to his family. I still miss him every day. That's why I posted this video; I am all in favor of praising men like this. They are not appreciated as much as they should be.

I finally got around to watching this.

Ten minutes of whining and conjuring up meanings that never existed in the Prager video.

I took the Prager video as a way to lift up and praise traditional men and to remind us of the debt we owe them. It's also to remind wives and kids of such men that they should appreciate them and be more grateful to them.

It's not intended to be some scathing indictment of what whores women are. (LBAW.) It's just to praise the men, give them their due.

The whiner in the video kept on talking about men pursuing their "hopes and dreams," as if this is something only men worry about. Then he goes on to ask about women returning to 50s values, like he expects that of women. I don't think that the Prager U video is necessarily saying that any of us "need" to go strictly back to the 50s. But, if that's what the guy in the rebuttal video wants for women, then he also should remember that women's "hopes and dreams" (anything outside of marrying and staying at home with the kids) were far more restricted back then too. So in essence, he would want women to give up their other "hopes and dreams."

Edit: I don't think the author of that video is correct about PragerU being supportive of (3rd wave) feminism:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFpYj0E-yb4

(I haven't seen/read all of these yet as my internet connection is annoyingly slow at the moment.)

I'm a little disappointed in myself, because this was the first thing I thought of when I saw the thread title.

I think the video made valid points.  I also think that a person, male or female, is a fool if they allow their basic subsistence - food, clothing, housing - to be dependent on the earning power of another.

Yes, and that's one of the great drawbacks of the 50s, for women. To further cite the YouTube guy's bitching about men's "hopes and dreams," if you have no earning power of your own and are dependent on the goodwill of another person to "allow" you to pursue personal interests, it's going to be difficult. This is true for everyone, male or female.

Yep. So much whining. Yikes.

BTW, I looked at some more PragerU videos and found one that criticizes the wrong path feminism has taken these days: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZR9FHKKbMZo So the YouTube MGTOW whiner who was carrying on about how "gynocentric" PragerU is—he got that wrong too. He was too busy doing the whining bitchmale act to do a little bit of research.
