The entire movie was about being the perfect victim.  I wanted to yell at Cruise to grow a pair through the entire movie.  There is two hours I will never get back.  Can't believe Speilburg actually did a crappy movie.

It is a story told solely through the eyes of an average joe.  If you expected an Independance Day type movie, you shouldn't have watched it.

I thought it was excellent, and I really liked the fact that I as a viewer knew no more than the protagonist.

BTW:  no apostrophe in "worlds".  The movie is not about something that belongs to the world, and if it was it would be part of the title.  I.E.  "The War of the World's Armies"

I was better than the last three Star Wars movies.  As I'd just seen Starwars Ep 3 the weekend before WotW I was pleased with the film.

Hey, episode 3 was actually pretty good.  It was much better than #2, which was much better than #1.

What I dont understand is that some super race comes down to our world, kills everyone/everything without effort, and then go hang out in a scummy farm basement and drinks the toilet water. Uh, OK, guess they weren't that smart. Guess they can build super machines, but an environment suit is out of the question.

Plus, even though the aliens in the walker things is sick (near the end), why does it turn off his force field?? I guess the microbes infected that too.

Spraying people's blood around as fertilizer made a lot of sense too,,,not! They knew enough about biology to grow some weird fungus with human blood, yet are too stupid to wear a mask to prevent their own infection.

This movie frigging sucked with or without Cruise. Spielburg has become an idiot.

Some of you who criticize the plot and how the movie went must have never read the book.....The plot went right along with the book (as it should) !!!

Saw it. Didn't hate it, but definately didn't like it.

Summary: Another McMovie for the McMasses....appealing to the 6 - 60 demographic will ALWAYS water down an otherwise promising story.

My children saw both the new, and the old(vid tape) War of the Worlds, and they said the Gene Barry version was diffinitely better.

The whole movie seemed to be about this guy's disfunctional family, with long pauses in the action to reflect on the fact that he was an immature and poor father.  At least they kept the "Tripods" in the story.

I fell asleep halfway through.  Woke up and saw Tim Robbins.  I walked out after that.

I hear Gollum bites the ring off Frodos finger and falls into the lava.   So it ended pretty good except for the elves leaving.  They should have covered "The scouring of the Shire" better  though.

I really like it also , but i would have let Tim Robbins shoot ( with AA trap loads ) those aliens in the basement hell at that point i would figure we're all doomed might as well take a couple with you since you had a chance to  get at um

Spielberg didnt write the screenplay or the story, did he?

perhaps you can blame him for a bad representation, but unless he wrote it and did full continuity instead of a full staff working on it, he himself is not to blame for inconsistencies of the story.
