I've been overworked and underappreciated.  Yeah, I know, aren't we all.  I'm really bored and I want to get out of town and do something new.  Usually when I get too bored I go and buy a new gun, but I've got all I need for right now.  Anybody got any suggestions for some things to do inside the USA?  I've thought about skiing, maybe going to Vegas, varminting for prarie dog, and some other stuff.  I'm open to any (reasonable!) ideas.  MJD

This time of year I'd suggest go somewhere warm like southern Florida.  If it was summertime I'd recommend going West to Yellowstone and the Black Hills of SD.

You do need a vacation -- you are talking all wacky.  Try Hawaii or Caribean.

If I were in VA, it was January, what would I do?

I'd go to NYC or bum around Europe.

Ick, I hate warm, warm is bad.  No offense, but heat and me just don't agree.  I do like the idea of going to the Black Hills.  I've thought about going to Sturgis, but I own a Honda.  You'd probably never see me again if I did that.

BeetleBailey:  Alone.  No significant other or anything to get in the way.  I can literally do anything I want.

I like things that are fast and potentially dangerous, that's what makes it fun.  I've thought about something like the Richard Petty driving experience and even going to one of those superbike racing schools.  MJD

Isn't there a Blackwater training school there in VA?

I could do that.  I believe that my talents would be more suited to police work than soldier work.  In fact, I've got some applications out now and I'm waiting to hear back about them.  There's enemies within the borders too and somebody has to take care of them.

Blackwater is a good idea.  I don't know if it's in Virginia, but it's not that far.  MJD

I do like the idea of going to the Black Hills.  I've thought about going to Sturgis, but I own a Honda.  You'd probably never see me again if I did that.

Go to Sturgis.  Having a Honda won't get you killed.  I took a BMW there and had a blast a few years back.  It's just one big party with the majority of people just there to have some fun.

Buy me a gun then.  I can't afford any.  I'm in college and haven't had a vacation for five years.  I've been going to classes non stop for four semesters...no summers off no nothing.  Got three straight semesters ahead then three years+ of law school.

Winter Carnival in McCall Idaho is the last weekend of January/first week of Feb. Ice sculptures, great skiing, wild hot springs all over, snowmobiling.....and lots of snowbunnies! Lots of hot cocktails, too!

+1. The skiing is great, casinos are fun. Heavenly deserves the name. Maybe you can find a shirt that says: "I survived Heavenly, Lake Tahoe......what? You don't think that is an accomplishment? Ask Sonny Bono"

I know I know, I'm probably going to hell

Why do you think I need a vacation?  I just got done with college myself.  I had the same kind of schedule and it was a bitch.  That on top of a full-time job.  Granted, the job pays well, hence my toys.  MJD

Not a bad idea, but I didn't think it was open to the public.  I thought you had to be part of the industry to get in.  MJD

Ski Park City. Stay there. Sundance Film Festival is going on NOW. Take the Canyon Jumpers (tour bus) to The Canyons, Alta, Snowbird, Deer Valley, etc.  Or better yet ; go to Whistler, BC. I know... not in the U.S. but $20 US buys a 6-pack and get $20 CAN back in change. AND the best skiing in North America.  :)   Stay safe
