After seeing a bunch of threads about getting rid of cable I'm getting pretty close to actually doing it. I think...but I'm not sure yet...if I get a Roku and an HD antenna I might be all set. The part I don't understand fully is whether you can actually watch live TV...I want to be able to watch my local sports teams. Warriors, Giants, Sharks. They normally broadcast on Comcast Sports Bay Area. And I'd love to be able to SPMNHD so I can watch other people hunt and NBCSN for F1. Am I on the right track or is it not possible to watch certain stuff live? Will I likely need to subscribe to some providers so I can get ball games? Anywhere I can look to do some research? I did check out the Roku channel guide but I'm not good at deciphering what that all means. I'm sure someone on GD has done what I'm trying to do, any helpful advice?

Legally for free?  No.
you can get your local channels ota(NBC, cbs, abc, fox).  But special networks require a direct subscription or a cable subscription.

I'm literally in the same boat OP.

Tired of paying for cable that I hardly watch.

Recently got a Roku and realized we spend more time using that than watching cable TV.

The question is, can you still watch some regular channels with just a Roku and Internet?
