Want the build an ar-.308 that takes Magpul magazines. Who makes a good lower/upper combo that's a great value for the money?

Got an Aero precision set. Haven't built the rifle yet, but I'm loving the receiver set.

Why build, just buy a MWS and be done. You won't be disappointed.

ETA: The easiest way to get all the 308 stuff you need in one go is apparently to fall asleep on painkillers after a surgery with a smartphone in your pocket. I woke up minus $1300 and plus one 308's worth of parts. Like a horribly expensive mixture of the ambien walrus and santa claus.

My local FFL's won't order Aero because there is not enough markup. No Mega's in stock and I found a CMMG lower for $275.

Slim picking here.

DPMS would probably be hard to beat for the money.  I actually haven't really heard anything bad about their .308's oddly enough.

AERO makes the best 'lower cost' 308 stuff (no offense PSA).  Dont skimp on your barrel tho!

<----
CMMG lower & LPK
RRA 2stg trigger
Fulton armory -
Slickside upper
BCG
Rail
Criterion barrel , 18" 1x10 twist, rifle length.

Thing shoots quarter size 5 shot groups at 100....

Not what I was going for, but I think you just gave me an idea for a logo for my machine shop

I translated the gcode semi-(quasi-?)directly from a raster of the original graphic:

Wow How shitty is that.

OP when you need a Handguard for that .308 look me up. I'll see if we can get you set up nicely.

Mega receivers are hard to beat. Look hard enough you'll find one.

aero- i bought them on sale but it was ~$300 for the upper and lower shipped (the upper came assembled with door and FA). Megas are sexy as heck but at half the price, im happy with what i have. PSAs receivers are too plain (plus theirs the geissele trigger issue)

Same here, maybe this weekend.

The Giselle trigger issue was apparently an easy fix. See the PSA PA10 thread.

Just keep in mind that there are no standards as to parts commonality like there are in the AR15 world.

You really have to know what you're doing with the .308's.

The Seekins and Lancer large frame AR's are some of the coolest, latest, most innovative receivers yet.

I would like to see the aftermarket make billet set answers to the GII, as well as the BCG and Barrel extension.

Seekins SP-10

Lancer L-30

Freedom Group GII 7.76lbs

I ended up getting an Aero upper/lower. A local FFL did the transfer for $75. Well that FFL closed down a few weeks after I picked mine up. My CCW has slowed down my build but I will have a .308 gun eventually. Looking at a Fortis rail and a Rainier Arms match barrel.
