Walmart booted soft core porn mags like Stuff and FHM / FMH whatever. Good or bad??
Link Posted: 5/6/2003 7:18:03 PM EDT
first they take the porn (this stuff isnt really porn as obscene define it, but i digress) then they will take the gun mags. since all "obscene" music is already off walmart shelves, thier a few steps shy of being renamed "PC super nice happy land" screw wally

They should also take some of those women's mags such as Cosmopolitan out too, those have some pretty racy pix in them also.

Don't like it but they are a business and are free to make that choice. The public will vote with their $$$'s as it should be.

An explanation as to why I regard this stuff as soft core porn - porn - o - graphy porneia - sexual desire graphy - graphical representation pornography - graphical representations intended to incite sexual desire. ONLY a maroon would try to argue that Stuff and FHM covers aren't porn (granted, soft core) under this classical definition. Even Entertainment Tonite admits their covers are sexual in nature. I don't give a flying fig what Hollywood or the G-PG-PG13-R-X rating system defines as porn. But I digress. [:D]

It's Wal-Mart. It's their decision. If you don't like it, feel free to startup {EnterYourNameHere)-Mart.

When walmart does something that you don't like, take all your business elsewhere. Any time you patronize walmart, you hurt some smaller business in the locality where you live. As someone else said, let your dollars do your talking. I spend very little there, too big and too busy for me.

It's their decision, but I think it's kinda stupid. Oh well, my Wal-Mart carries Shotgun News. I feel for you guys. OTOH, they did not let me buy a clip (yes, it was a clip, not a magazine) for my air pistol.

I wonder what Wally's reaction would be if some beaver mag did a photo spread on "The Woman of Wal-Mart"?

People actually still buy porn? Jeez.

The Holy-Rollers strike again.

Umm, it's NOT soft core porn. There are NO nipples, or hair showing in any of the pictures. Other than that, these mags are great. Wal-Mart is getting less and less of my business. If they take these off the shelf, they should also take Cosmo, Vanity Fair, GQ, and many others off as well.

Well, of you consider Maxim/Stuff/FHM etc porn, then yes. Maybe I'm just jaded but mags like these I actually buy for the articles. If all that they offered was girlie pix then 'thanks but no thanks'. I'm suprised folks aren't raising a fuss about Wal-Mart selling women's dresses that actually show leg above the ankle [shock], there's no need for that sort of thing. They should only offer burkhas, so as not to arouse sexual desire [rolleyes]. Don't they have any witches they could be burning? I agree with warlord & UHLEK: if Stuff/Maxim/FHM go then Cosmo, etc have to go also.
