And I didn't press charges. I went to the checkout counter with one HP1600 printer cartridge, a pack of printer paper, and a packet of razor blades.

I signed for the credit card, then noticed the amount seemed awful high.  The receipt showed that the cashier charged me twice for the printer cartridge which was around $50.  After arguing with me, she realized what she did, then told me to go through the service desk to get it removed.

If I made a mistake and walked out with an item I didn't pay for I would have been in court.

These "mistakes" seem to be happening a lot at this particular Wal-Mart and the local fast food joints.

I think these incidents are more of a justification that Idiocracy is really happening than they are of any sort of "theft mindset".

People in these jobs are really, really, and I mean REALLY fucking stupid by default, and they just seem to be getting dumber by the day.  Sure, there are always exceptions, but too find that in about any low pay service job that I feel "lucky" if my transaction that day went without a mistake, and if I got to interface with someone that actually speaks English, I usually buy a lottery ticket shortly thereafter.

Mag dump with blanks into the ceiling is clearly the only answer here. Then start screaming about chem trails and our corporate overlords.

You should always do this before you do this.

You could always pay attention to what they are scanning or do self checkout?

Had that happen once , double charged me then told me i had to go to the long customer service desk to get it fixed. I said no , you can do it right here as I'm not waiting in that line. She bitched so I said get your manager , and I told the manager what happend and that I would just return this whole cart of about 50 items and call corporate if they didnt just do it right here right now ..they did it right there.  Now when they pull stupid shit like that , I say stop rining stuff up and leave the cart and all in the line and walk out....

It was malice.  And wickedness.  I could sense it.

That was my intent, but she stared at me and waggled her head so I moved over.

lot's of

When you scan an item there is a beep. I've accidentally scanned items twice but I've always caught it and voided the extra item. She is retarded.

Why didn't you look at the total before you paid? I always do this before I swipe the card because mistakes happen and people are stupid.

However I did have a smoke shop intentionally steal from me. I bought a couple things that totaled $17 and some change. stupid bitch punched in $71, swiped my card, then typed in $17 and swipped my card again. The $71 charge over drew my account( by $2 ) the second swipe gave me another over draft fee.

I talked to the owner and got my $71 back, the stupid bitch got fired. But chase REFUSED to give me the overdraft fee's. Even though it was ran as credit, and I didn't authorize the first transaction(by signing it). They told me to take the shop to small claims court. I had to eat the $70 fee's and I closed my account shortly after words.

You buy printer cartridges from a store? In that case, yeah they did steal from you.

http://www.123inkjets.com/ or any one of the other printer cartridge sites out there. The cartridges aren't quite as good as OEM cartridges and they don't last quite as long but you can get 3-5 for what Wal-Mart charges for one.

We have a Home Depot that got so bad about doing that kind of thing that we quit going there.  The price marked on the shelf was often lower than what rang up at the register, and when there was a discrepancy it was ALWAYS biased high; I strongly suspect that they were doing it on purpose.

Vote with your feet if it's a recurring problem at that store

You should detain Wal Mart and call the cops.

You should have waited until the Greeter checked your receipt, THEN pointed out that you had FEWER items than on your receipt.

That would have been the better approach for a good Arfcom tale.
