Am I the only one to notice this/have I missed all of the posts or is this a non-issue?

"Today's wire service reports that on Monday, President Bush appointed John Magaw as head of the new Transportation Security Administration during the Congressional recess that stalled his appointment. The new organization will take charge of airline security by 19 Feb.

The selection was announced on 10 Dec, but the Senate failed to confirm him.

Magaw served in the Secret Service for 26 years and was named director in 1992. He headed that ATF from 1993-1999.  He was the acting executive director of the Office of National Preparedness at FEMA."

Why would President Bush pick the guy who ran the ATF during the Klinton administration for a key post in his own cabinet?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Oh please!  Mr. Magaw is a loyal Republicrat!  How could Bush fail to reward him for his years of loyal one-party service??

I thank John Magaw for his service to the country by bringing evildoers to justice. He is an American hero.

If you are at the airport and see the cattle trucks coming, it will be time to leave.  Or put on your Nomex underwear.

OTOH, maybe the chief of airport security these days SHOULD be a JBT!

Please notice the same faces over and over again regardless of the administration.  There is a conspiracy and it controls the reigns of government. Magaw is a good thug who does what he is told.  Guys like him are valuable to the corrupt.

From Neal Knox:
--------------------
Speaking of the Transportation Department, President Bush has
made a recess appointment of John Magaw -- former head of Secret
Service and BATF -- to the key role of Undersecretary of
Transportation for Security.

Ironically, although gunowners have been raising Cain about
the appointment, his confirmation was being blocked by Iowa Sen.
Tom Harkin -- who is no friend of gunowners.

Magaw, working for former anti-gun Congressman Norm Mineta,
will call the shots on allowing pilots to be armed, as authorized by
Congress in the Aviation Security Act.

The Transportation Department has asked for public comment on that
issue until Feb. 14.

A good account of the request, and pilots' views, is on Cybercast News
at

Details of their request, and how to respond, are in a Gun
Owners of America alert at http://www.gunowners.org/a010702.htm.

Higgins was the ATF Director in charge that was responsible for Waco and Ruby Ridge. A total POS. Magaw replaced him. Magaw is definitely a FED. A "company man" so to speak. But Higgins is the a-hole responsible for all that bullsh@t!
