any jeep owners out willing to give a jeep newbie a hand?           well a originally was gonna look around for a jeep this spring as a 2nd vehicle. unfortunately a case of icy road and ditch means i started looking a little early. Ive checked around and found a few i like. a 2002 grand Cherokee,a 2000gc, and a 2001gc . the costliest runs around $7,000-+ the least $5,500-+ .the 01 at 70,000miles the other 2 around 13,000 miles. all seem to be equipped pretty much the same, 4.0 i6cl, auto tranny, one with OD i think.i'm not looking for a hard core off road rig. just mainly a daily driver with a little dirt action now and then. thanks for any info.

I think a lot of the Jeep 6cyl but for $1500 I would definitely go with the vehicle that has almost 60k fewer miles.

Whatever you do, stick with the I6 and stay away from the V8.  That I6 will run forever and ever!

Me too.  The 4.0 is a great engine but the rest of the Jeep will have some issues.  I'd stick with the lower miles.

My 96 Grand Cherokee only has 105,000 miles but I have replaced starter, water pump, power steering pump, a few other parts and the AC needs charged because of a freon leak.

Look it over good including under the vehicle.  Look for signs of abuse like mud where it should'n be.

just an update took a guy i know who has owned more than one 4x4(usually wore out pos's) with me to look them over. choose the 2002. underneath looks like it's never been off-road every thing else looks great! only one problem................................it's got so many bells an whistles it takes a minute to find what i want .
