It's a stripped SKS Para.

Dunno if it's the detachable AK mag version.  Where are all the parts?  Looks like it's missing:

Trigger group
Gas tube
gas piston
push rod and spring
bolt and bolt carrier assembly
magazine
reciever cover

Tell him you'll give him $50 if he finds the extra parts.

He took it apart , don't think he can get it back together. Is there anything wrote on it to tell if its a detachable mag version. Could someone tell if I had a picture of the bottom.

Norinco SKS sporter-M. Uses AK mags. The only SKS that actually uses detachable mags. Complete in good condition they go for $300-400. That thing is missing alot though.

Here's an old picture of mine. I've refineshed it since then, I didn't like the dark stain after I did it. It's now more of a russian red.

Does he still have the parts?  If yes, then people here will be more than happy to help you get it back together.  $40?  That's a steal.

A SKS-D is the Preban version of the SKS-M. The D had a bayo lug, and other evil features that the -M doesn't have. I asked alot of questions about them after i got mine. It's a pretty decent gun. Mag changes suck compared to an AK. but the barrel is alot heavier and they are decently accurate. Of course the reliability is very good too.

Hope on that, especially if he has the parts.

Buy it, Or send me a link so I can. You can get a cheap donor rifle and build it up. Or there are tons of cheap parts out there. They take an AK mag too. I've seen them for $225 - 300
