As a taxpayer I am all for the utilization of free labor, as long as the proper controls are in place to prevent the local government from losing lawsuits over the foolish actions of wanna-be cops. I am not calling all the volunteers wanna-be cops, but life experience has shown that the leadership will need to be pretty careful to weed out the volunteers that are attracted to the program for the wrong reasons.

We have a bunch of those on here.

W did this sort of thing for a VERY short period of time after 9/11. It was an experiment that was shut down pretty quickly for the obvious reasons.
