Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Voice Recognition Software, has anyone tried it?

Has anyone here tried a Voice Recognition Software package that types from dictation?

I tried something called Dragon - Naturally Speaking about 5 years ago and it didn't work for shi'ite. Does anyone here have any suggestions or has the software gotten any better yet?

I type slmost as fast as I can speak (with pauses for thinking), so I can't help ya there.

i have seen them all. the newer versions are no better than the 5yr old versions. Unless you have a VERY clear speaking voice with little to no accent of any kind they are pretty shitty.

I tried the Dragon software a while back and was  very unimpressed for most usage but it was good enough to bind to keyboard commands for some online gaming.  

Best I've used was on a car stereo strangely enough but once again it was limited to simple commands with common introductory words, ie "Volume" + "Up", "Down", "Mute"   or "Radio" + "Scan", "aM" or "Fm"

took some practice and training to get the commands right.
