I admit to taking a multi one a day, a tab of ginko and some green tea.

Am I wasting my time and money???

Opinions???

Check your stool to see if the pill/tablet goes through undigested. If you find it, it does you no good.

I stopped popping glucosamine condroitin tablets for this very reason.

There are a lot of people out there that believe if you eat right daily, you can get almost all the vitamins you need from that.

I've heard the multi-vitamins just give you expensive pee.

No, vitamins are not useless. But do you need to take them in pill form on a daily basis? Well, that depends on your diet. Do you eat in a healthy fashion? Do you eat enough fruits and vegetables every day to give you the vitamins and fibres you need? If you do, you won't need the tablets. If your diet is questionable, multivitamins are a great way to patch it up.

You're both incorrect. Certain kinds of pills are designed to pass through like that. With those your body absorbs all the vitamins and what not, but the pill passes through your digestive system.

Not a doctor, but from what I understand you really only need to take one if you are deficient in something and can't really get it in your diet.

i.e. my wife takes an iron tablet daily because she is anemic.

A lot of manufacturers explain that many brands of vitamin tablets are so hard that they go through the body undissolved. It has something to do with time release. They want the pill intact when it goes through certain parts of the digestive tract that absorb specific nutrients.

If I had any links I'd give em.

Separate from a multi-vitamin, CONSIDER taking Ester E and Ester C,  My biology Prof SIL explains that ester essentially means body ready.  Much easier to absorb at the cellular level.
