Storms forming over IN right now.

Seems that another derecho event is possible tonight.

Probability of damaging thunderstorm winds or wind gusts of 50 knots or higher within 25 miles of a point.
Hatched Area: 10% or greater probability of wind gusts 65 knots or greater within 25 miles of a point.

Edit - derecho threat seems to be diminished, but there is still potential for severe thunderstorms tonight AND another derecho threat tomorrow.

How it came out of nowhere and went from 0-60+mph instantly and then constantly was what floored me, and I've been around for a pretty long time!

Oh, well, if another's coming, glad I didn't clean up too much from last night's storm! Don't have that many trees left!

ETA: Oh look! I'm in the bullseye!!!!

Unfortunately, there is likely a lot of trees that didn't fall or lose limbs last night that were still damaged or weakened. Any storms tonight may not have to be as severe to cause more outages due to these weakened trees taking down lines.

Yeah, it was pretty intense here as well.

Sky got a little darker, and the wind picked up enough to hear that something was going on outside.

I went outside, looked around thought "this should be interesting," and then bam it started blowing 60-70 mph winds for half an hour.

I was more amazed at how much it cooled off after the storm. We were in the 90's when it hit, and it sure felt like upper 60's when it was over.

this! i was outside and it was warm and humid next thing you know that wind came down like a freight train, bent trees almost horizontal, and shit just started flying around. just came back from cleaning up my folks house, chainsawing limbs a foot in diameter, fetching patio furniture blown across the yard, don't know HOW the umbrella is still there! it was supposed to be another record hot day but it turned out not so hot, still humid as hell though.

va power is all on but md and dc still have tens of thousands still out...how's that change working for you, fucktards!

Looks like that is a distinct possiblity, however it looks like it will be localized strong to severe t-storms.  This is of course in contrast with last night's multi state fuck and run.

Really got bizarre here last night.

Turbulent clouds, howling winds, red and yellow flashes in the sky, trees falling down all over, and lots of small debris in the air.

At one point it sounded like a freight train rolling in. Thinking tornado, I told the wife, "Downstairs....NOW!" She fumbled around a bit, grabbing her tablet or book or whatever. I said, "Let's GO! MOVE!".   When she said "I can't move that fast" I told her she'd better learn to!

The weirdest thing was that it got really light out around 10:30.

Power was out for 22 hours on the hottest day of the year.  Yay...

Woke up to the drama, Made out very well here, had power, just got internet. I swear, its like MD always gets it the worst. And their power company is terrible. Common multi day outages.

As far as NOVA - not tonight.  They had theirs last night, so I guess the power crews got a break.

Tonight's action is a line along I-64 from Louisa to Hampton Roads.  Looks like most of the action moving towards HR now.
