http://www.policeone.com/officer-shootings/articles/8633327-Video-Mich-cop-cleared-in-fatal-OIS-footage-released

Guilford was pulled over for flashing his brights at an oncoming
vehicle closer than 500 feet. He refused to show Frost identification or
proof of insurance. He refused to put his hands behind his back when
the officer attempted to arrest him, resulting in use of an ECD.

When the device was ineffective, the altercation moved to a ditch
beside the road. Guilford, on his back, began punching the officer in
the face. Frost reported that his mouth was full of blood and that was
about to lose consciousness when he reached for his firearm.

With Frost’s body camera knocked off, and Guilford’s cellphone on the
pavement, only audio from the phone captured the shooting.

Kid took "Am I being detained?" too far. Although that body cam was basically useless once some action started. Hard to tell what actually happened after the taze. If the officer's injuries were consistent with his story, I say good shoot.

So why would this kid be flashing his lights if the other cars lights were not on high.

That little shit went from, I saw a guy make a fool out of an officer on a traffic stop.
To, I'll just beat the shit out of him, since he is too smart to fall for my bullshit.

This is a trend.
I got in a fight making an arrest last week. The guy was screaming "Don't kill me" While trying to kill me.
When I briefly had an arm bar, he would scream, "I tap, I tap".
I had to pepper spray him, and myself to gain control.
If it had gone much longer, I would have had to shoot him.

Be safe.

The kid was a tool.............however, it is upsetting that all of this happened because the cop's headlights were so bright that they were blinding oncoming traffic (the officer admitted to this while explaining to the kid that other people have flashed their hi beams at him tonight as well. But they all got warnings and were explained that it is a new car so the lights are new/bright). Seems a bit like a case of "I'm a cop, don't flash your high beam at me".  At some point, after having a few people do it, just let it go and understand that your bright headlights are annoying people.

I am not a big cop fan at all and am the first to admit that alot of cops are complete tools. However your everyday citizens are tools as well. This is a good shoot in my opinion. The kid should have handed over his drivers liscense. He broke the law and was about to pay the price but he showed his ass and did not respect the authority of the police man.

Lol.  Is THAT really why all this happened? None of those other motorists managed to get themselves killed.

And haven't we covered this enough times.

Then why did the cop say that other motorists had flashed him as well? I paraphrased the cop's own words, not my own. And I never said had shoot or the cop did wrong. I said it was a shame this all started with the cop pulling him over for flashing his hi beams at him......especially since it had already been done numerous times. Some of you guys need to listen and read a little better.

Even if there was, that's no excuse for not being able to have a reasonable contact with a cop, even it includes recieving a traffic citation you didn't deserve.  Argue it with a judge, not on the side of the road with an armed stranger who's not interested in your bullshit.

Maybe the car's headlights didn't come aimed properly. Sometimes this is on the dealer's pre-delivery prep list, and I bet it wasn't done in this case. If multiple people flashed him in one night, then the lights obviously need to be adjusted.

The cop was trying "verbal judo" to settle the kid down and stop his arguing. The cop lied to appear sympathetic to the kids complaint. No one else had flashed their brights at the cop, there was nothing wrong with the police car lights, and its illegal pretty much everywhere to flash your high beams at an oncoming car within 500'.

It was a good stop, that would have probably resulted in a "don't do that" warning, if the kid had acted somewhere closer to reasonable.
