For the last 2 days my PC will not start up properly. It has shut down correctly and without issue each time I've turned it off, but every time I try to start it up it says it was not previously shut down correctly. I try starting normally anyway and it comes back to the same options screen, so I try Last Known Good Configuration to no avail. The only thing I can do is boot into safe mode, then as soon as I get into safe mode, restart the computer, and then it goes into XP without a problem normally.

I haven't changed any drivers or installed any new components either.

Try reverting to an earlier restore point.

My system restore is broken for some reason. Whenever I try to start it up it says an error has occurred. When I try to go to its options in the control panel I get the same result.

I forgot to mention Anit-Virus and Spyware scans comes up completely empty.
