Something tells me the dog's name was Kharma
And it was a female

Wonder if the rider is a member. He's packing.

That sucks.  I've hit a dog at ~50mph on my old BMW GSA.  I was lucky to keep it upright.  Thought I'd need a crowbar to get the seat out of my ass.

Pretty sure that's not an interstate, though.

Yowser, can't imagine the adrenaline dump of that dude trying to jump out of the way of that semi.

I hit one on a Sportster at maybe 40-50 mph. I managed to keep it upright (not sure how).

It did bend my front rim a little bit.

Had to be some pucker factor for the guy in the semi, too.

My old man had a dog wipe him out, back in the late 70s, early 80s. He didn't get massed up too bad, but it did a number on the bike.

Most people say their dog won't leave their property.

Video says otherwise.

Almost thought that was coyote at first.

If it was an "owned" dog, I don't think you'd have much luck recovering anything from the owner.

Looks to me like the guy needs to learn to use his rear brakes. That dog didn't look big enough to flip him over like that and yes I have hit a dog while riding. It was a small one though.

Exactly. A LOT of people don't use their rear brakes properly because the front is so effective. Those rear brakes keep you from going over like these guys.

Happened to me going about 40 down a gravel road on a hard tail.

Luckily it was a smallish dog and I was able to keep it upright.

Not so lucky for the dog.

I'm pretty sure that dog is dead and it doesn't bother me one bit, but if you ride a bike you you just have to accept the danger.

That dog wasn't big enough to cause that. The second guy didn't hit anything and he flipped.

Did you even bother watching the video? The dog hit the front wheel at an angle and pushed the front wheel to the left. That has nothing to do with the front brake.

You need some thicker glasses.
That was a full sized dog, not a St Bernard or an Irish Wolfhound and not a miniature poodle or a miniature dachshund.
60-80 lbs is my guess.

That's more than enough to take down a motorcycle at speed.

I hit a small dog with my Norton doing about 40 mph. Kept it upright but there was dogs shit and blood

all over the front of the bike.  Dog lived.

Exactly the rider never even reacted, with he camera guy blocking the view of the dog I bet he never saw it.

I saw a guy hit a big assed dog on a big assed bike once, he didn't even slow down, just knocked it out of the way, swerved some, and kept on going.

The Dog was chasing traffic and decided it was his day to finally catch one.

the dog in the vid was road colored. guy probably freaked when he registered it.

Front brake, uplift on rear wheel.

Rear brake, downthrust on front wheel.

Simple dymanics.

yes. if your animal is in the road, and it causes a accident, your libel for it.  just as car driver is NOT libel for running over your animal.

i had a thread about running over my neighbors dog.

a arfcommer who is a insurance adjuster, said he had a client who hit a dog on a new harley, fucked the rider and passenger up really bad... dog owner comes out and is screaming about his dead dog... motorcycle rider had to call 911 on his own for a ambulance.

dog owner called insurance wanting them to buy him a new dog..... insurance adjuster ended up making home owners insurance buy new motorcycle, and pay medical injuries.

Always be aware when riding.

I ran over a Texas Speed bump. Big ass Amadillio
and stayed up

That made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Just yesterday a squirrel was on the yellow line, he freaked, ran away from me then darted back just in time for my back tire to catch his head. Not 10 minutes later a full size dog darted towards me diagonally out of a yard, I grabbed a fist full of front brake and stood on the rear brake and swerved off to the edge of the road and narrowly missed him. Was doing 55 in both instances. Scary shit.

I almost got taken out by a coyote on I-80 in western Nebraska when I was on my bike. I didn't see it until it was about three feet in front of the bike. It was a nice sunny afternoon and me and the 'yote were both haulin' ass. I would have gone down hard if we had collided.
