So what you guys doing?

I was gonna go back to CA and go sailing. When I lived back there we use to go hangout out on a sailboat between Catilina and Newport Beach. Party all day on the boat and watch the fireworks up and down the coast at night. Ahhhh those were the days.

Does anyone have that quote by Abraham Lincoln about July 4 ???

something to the effect of July 4 should be used for parades, fireworks and the firing of guns.

Work.

Double time and a half.  $$$$$  They didn't raise postal rates again for nothing.

The carriers don't work, so easy money.

Morning:  Raise the flag and go shoot guns.

Afternoon:  Cook big slabs of meat.

Evening:  Lower the flag, then go to the home of my old friend who won the lottery several years ago.  His view covers most of the major fireworks shows in San Diego.

I was thinking about going shooting, but I will probably go to the local parade with the kids instead.  Later we and friends will celebrate the birth of our country by blowing a small piece of it.

Oh Yea, I also sent off my yearly Letters to the editor and my Reps. FWIW

Sleep in. Play some DF3 online. Take the dogs to the park.  Go to a friends house for BBQ.  Come home and watch fireworks from the backyard.

OK, that's what I want to do.  Wife will probably have me working all day long. [;)]

I'm waiting for the 6th. I can't get enough time to go out of town until Friday. Maybe I'll head down to the range. Anybody know where Orlando's Full-Auto. range is ?

An old flame from B'ham is coming down to see me for her break.  Haven't seen her in over a year, and we usually end up having a pretty good time.

So in conclusion, I won't be shooting fireworks, or shooting my AR15...but I'll definately be "shooting" something, if ya smell what I'm cookin'

Then all of the stuff that I never have the daylight or time to do.
Would like to shootbut I'll have to wait and see.
Have a good fourth everyone.
God bless America!

I wasn't that mean monster Lincoln, but John Adams.

"The Second Day of July 1776 will be the most memorable Epocha, in the History of America. . . . It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires, and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more." -- John Adams to Abigail Adams, July 3, 1776

The reason he mentions the 2nd of July is that was the date that the Continental Congress adopted the resolution to sever ties to Great Britain.

The Declaration of Idependence was the document explaining why this was being done and was not signed until 2 days later, July 4.

Since I never get invited to any parties, tomorrow to celebrate the 4th of July, I am going to the grocery store and counting all of the items that have red, white or blue colors in their labels.

Cleatus, that looks really cool!  Your post can be understood by anybody on the planet!

My plans for the 4th will be very different for me than from any other year.

The 4th of July will go as follows:

1.)  Cars have already been fully gased up and washed before the holiday and put in garage.

2.)  All bills and errands have been taken care of before holiday to put mind at ease.

3.)  Various foods are now marinating in the refrigerator as I write.  Marinating foods in mind for my BBQ tomorrow would include Jumbo shrimp shiskabobs, teriyaki steaks, baby back ribs, and corn on the cobs wrapped in tin foil.  Already bought coleslaw/potato salad and 24 cans to cool in refrigerator.  Three bags of chips are also in cabinet.  Will use only paper plates all day tomorrow.  Sam I am.  I do not like green eggs and ham.  Sam I am!  (Heh Heh I thought I could throw that in from the good doctor.)    [:P]

4.)  Early tomorrow morning, dogs will be put outside with all their toys spread around entire yard so they can play all day and not come in the house.  Dog food and water will also be changed.

5.)  All phones will be put on silent mode and answering machine on to take messages.  Both faxes also will be put on silent mode.  I will not surf the web to go on AR15.com or other sites the entire day...maybe.  Nor will I work out in the gym at all the entire day.  The only metal I will be pushing and lifting will be a fork and spoon!  And of course, a cold one in one hand!  [:)]

6.)   Will lock door and not invite any women or college friends for the entire day!  I need a break away from others at least one full day!  Will not answer door bell for anybody tomorrow no matter how much they push that door bell and holler and scream.  They could pound on the door all they want, and I still will not answer the door tomorrow.  I will be enjoying my holiday.   Go away!  Go home! Sam I am!

7.)   Will put leather couch out on balcony and open all windows and turn off all lights to give my day a picnic-like setting.

8.)   Next, will fire up the BBQ and boot up entertainment system.  Movies on my need-to-watch list include the following:  The Rock, Air Con, The Matrix, Scarface, Aliens, and Starship Troopers.  All in this order.  And no I still did not read the book on Starship Troopers, so I still think it is a great movie.  [:)]  Sam I am!

9.)   Next, I will pig out like there is no tomorrow!  For the whole day I will not talk to a living soul or answer the door even if the fire dept.were knocking and pounding at my door, I will not answer.  Sam I am!  I will stuff my face and watch the movies like a professional couch potato would natually do!   NOBODY WILL DARE BOTHER ME!  I'M ON MY ONE-DAY VACATION!!!  LADY IN LIFE AND COLLEGE FRIENDS, PLEASE DO NOT BOTHER ME!  LEST NOT FORGET, I AM ONE OF THOSE EVIL GUN OWNERS!  SAM I AM!!     [:(!]

I hope everybody has a great 4th tomorrow!  And don't bother me, please.   [:)]

I'll be working somewhere around the South Street Seaport in Manhattan and later in the evening "working" during the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks show (all OT pay)...I guess there are still some perks for NY's Finest.

Be safe everyone....

I'll be losing the equivalent of a new FAL in Laughlin, NV.

Days on the lake, nights in the casino. . .  it doesn't get any better than this.
