Hi guys..I sold a Bushmaster pre ban lower on Gun Broker for an unbelievable amount. Turns out the winning bidder is from Up state New York. He says he's already checked everything out with his FFL before bidding. I've been reading all I can find about NY gun laws and seems they've named and defined "assault weapons" per the Clinton AWB. But it's says something about the "before 1993" manufacture date. My question is in layman's terms: Is a true "pre ban" lower legal to sell in New York State? Next question, if I send the lower to the guys FFL am I off the hook and it's up the the FFL and new buyer to know the rules of their state?
I know New York City is a completely different set of laws. Please only post if you really know what's what in New York, a whole bunch of debate isn't really going to help me out. Thanks in advance for your info

Pre Sept 14, 1994 perfectly legal in New York State. Not in NYC.

ETA: And it is up to the FFL to determine if he can transfer or not.

You can always go over to the NY Hometown forum and read up too.

Exactly as he said. I have several preban lowers...a couple are Bushmaster. It's the only way we can have all the fun features and not go to jail.
