I painted a car once at 4AM, finished it about 6:30, went inside, took a shower and ate breakfast then drove it to work.

The car is a 1963 Maserati 3500 GT  but there will be no pics until the car is done per the owner.

This is what it looks like.....

I hear ya... paint waits for noone. I just had the fine opportunity to paint a fullsize extended cab truck. What a gem that was to do.

I wouldn't be suprised if that isn't EXACTLY what happened to your friends Jeep.

I had a friend take his 300ZX to MAACO, I warned him not to. He's had it back 4 times since then and FINALLY got smart........and sold the fucking car!

I had the same experience painting my roadster. Started in the morning but screwed up the Chromillusion and had to pretty much start over. Put me way behind and I ended up painting clear at two in the morning; caused all sorts of problems. Due to being a rookie, I didn't adjust the mix properly as the outside temps cooled off and the humidity came up. Ended up with a ton of gas bubbles in the 3rd coat of clear. That was five years ago. I keep telling myself I'll repaint it, but just can't bring myself to do it.

Here's some pics right after I finished shooting.

And autocrossing earlier this month:

My dad was a professional painter he's done quite a few show cars and numerous other projects.  He has nothing good to say about Maaco and Earl Schibe.

I've worked for him before and I know the amount of hard work required.. I can appreciate a nice paint job..

I have over 60K on my Unique now. I finally broke down and bought new brightwork because the original trim
from 10 years ago started to look bad even to me.

It really could use a respray and the stroker freshened but I honestly would rather driver it than
take it apart right now. Maybe when I get my own place next year. Maybe.

BTW,I think it is a right of hot rodding that clear gets sprayed after midnight! I think we sprayed
my last coat around 0200...

That's beautiful what under the hood?

Been thinking of selling my Mustang to fund one but i just can't part with it. Flaws in paint are great you just worry less about scratching it.

Gotta love Cobras!! Uniques are sweet. I wanted to build and found FFR more in line with what I wanted to do.

I hear you on shooting paint late! I've said to several friends that I'd build another one in a heartbeat, but I'm not sure I'd do another body and paint. What a PITA!! But it was worth it.

Cheers!

Thanks! I'm pretty happy with it! The motor started life as a basic 5.0 motor. Now its not basic anything. .030 over, AFR 185 heads, GT40 intake, 4 into 4 exhaust,  Crane Hi-6 ignition, 30lb injectors and an S-trim vortech with FMU. Last dyno'd at 471 RWHP and 451 RWTQ. Since the car weighs 2400lbs soaking wet, it's a handful!!

I hear you on the paint. I don't get upset with all the chips the way the trailer queen guys do!

As for your Mustang, I know several folks who converted them to FFR Cobras and love them! PM me if you want details.

Cheers!

I want candy, bubble gum, and taffy
Skip to the sweet shop with my sweetheart Sandy
Got my pennies saved so I'm her sugar daddy
I'm her Hume Cronyn and she's my Jessica Tandy, I want candy!

put it in a pile, split it with my bitty 50/50 down the line
kinda like close encounters of the cavity kind
im talkin liquorice kisses, talkin chocodile smiles

I want candy, i got a sugar tooth
put on your shin gaurds, Sandy, 'cause i wanna knock boots
lick my peppermint stick til' the lollipop droops
gumdrop that dont stop til' its licked knot loose

(ladies)
candy... candy...

i need candy bubble gum, and taffy
get in my way punk, you're gonna get ya ass beat, nasty
Do it till your dad sees, embarass your whole family
Just 'cause you came between a kid and his candy
I need candy, any kind'll do
Don't care if it's nutritious or "FDA approved"
It's gonna make me spaz like bobcats on booze
A hyperactive juice that only I can produce

And fuel a giant drill, bore straight into Hell
Releasing ancient demons from their sleep forever spell
So they can walk upon the earth, and get resituated
And Hock the diet pills that MC Pee Pants has created

I need candy, want some candy, eat candy til' I'm dead
I'll kill you for some candy, give me candy, candy head!
Where you keepin' all the candy?!
Who made you candy king?!
If you dont give me some candy, I will make the ladies sing!

(ladies)
Candy, in tha morning, candy on the way to school
Candy, at school, at lunch in the afternoon
Candy, in school, on your way home from school
Candy, at diner,at dinner, in bed!

Mess up the mix, mix up the mess
Come on down yo, here's the address
At 6-1-2 Wharf Avenue,
