What can you do legally about them. With an always on machine, one your number gets out, your machine gets more action than a ten dollar whore.

The received headers have incomplete or no info.

Help?

the ones with complete headers get a phone call and return fax demanding immediate cessation.

If I know where the fax came from this is what I do.

Take 4 or 5 sheets of black paper and run them thru you fax machine to make a continuous loop. Call up the number and let it run for 20 or 30 minutes.

+1. Black construction paper is hell on a toner cartridge. Would caller ID capture phone numbers from a fax machine?

There is a guy named Tom Martino that has a national radio consumer show. At one time he was getting people to send in their unsolicited faxes so that he could file a suit against the original senders. I don't know if he is still doing it or not, but here is a link to his site:

Ditto, exceptWe went 1 better (IMHO) we reversed out the following message, one letter per page: DO NOT SEND US ANYMORE UNSOLICITED FAXES, OR NEXT TIME YOU'LL BE GETTING A FAX FROM OUR LAWYERS. HAVE A NICE DAY. Typically that did the trick ;)

Edited to add, make sure you have a caller-i.d. on the fax, thn you can send back 9 or more times out of 10.

Beyond that, check you state laws about unsolicited faxes, might be some legal deal you can do, also call the BBB - ask them if anything can be done?? We were always able to send a fax back ;)

We get them all the damn time in my office but they never have complete headers with the original machine's #

Unwanted faxes are one thing, but what about unwanted TAXES. Those are the worst =)

Post your fax number and I'll see what I can do!

Sending junk faxes is a Federal crime.
