Juana Bejarano walked out of court Tuesday a free woman. 14 months ago, she drove without a license, ran a stop sign and wiped out an entire family: Esmeralda, Breanna, Jada, Isaac and Nikko. The Saucedos are now pictures on a shirt, or names on a telephone pole memorial at the scene of the crash that killed them. The fact that Bejarano is free doesn't sit well with the family that lost so much.

Bejarano didn't walk away scot free, even though she won't go to jail. She got three months on an adult offender work program and three months on electronic monitoring. Her attorney says she should make it her mission to make it all up to the Saucedo family.

Well, guess it's up to the familia to take care of that little issue.

I would be curious to know her immigration status. I'm pretty sure that if I did that to a family, I'd be in prison.
our country is fucked up. FBHO and every liberal back to Hanoi Jane.

Indentured servant for life. That would be some compensation.

Jail is the safest place for you.

Yeah... we all know if we did that we'd be under the jail.

I'd have no problem with this. We certainly don't have a "justice" system.

I need a little help here as I am having difficulty conceptualizing…. things….

Violate an obscure and arbitrary Federal law (18 U.S.C. 922 (o) ) by having an AR-15 that will sometimes double fire with light primer strikes and you will become a convicted felon and serve multiple years in prison.

Violate multiple local and state laws on operating a vehicle and navigating traffic resulting in the deaths of a small family and you will be sentenced to a work program and electronic monitoring.

I cannot quite put my finger on it but something is a bit off.

Joe Saucedo saw it all happen. As his wife drove the kids, he drove an empty car, headed to pick up more kids for a party. Instead, he witnessed the fire that killed them all, unable to save them from the huge flames.

This article is from back in September when it happened. She posted $10,000 bail and was out on hours.

http://abc30.com/news/riverdale-man-who-lost-wife-and-four-kids-in-crash-talks-with-abc30-/324973/

"Court records reveal Bejarano claims she does not remember anything about the collision."

WTF is "misdemeanor manslaughter"

No immigration status and speaking in Spanish, I will assume on that one.

Shut up and pick up that can! How dare you question the King's law!

What we have is an oligarchy if you conform and do what the nobility want they will overlook things defy them and it’s off to jail.

I'm amazed that there are so many adults that truly believe that someone is supposed to go to jail every time a fatality car accident happens.

Most of the time they don't even go to trial.

Unless it's a young white kid. In that case they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

This is the only explanation for why punishment for Malum Prohibitum laws can often meet and exceed that of Malum in Se laws.

Now, if she'd done this and killed say, a judge, or a DA, she'd be fucked.

Blowing a stop sign and killing a family is negligent homicide, driving is a responsibility so why should we just let people off when they are negligent and kill someone?

From an article at the time of the crash:

"The suspect was only in jail for six hours. She posted a $10,000 bond and was released."

So no.

How can two articles not mention her citizenship?

If she only speaks spanish, it would appear likely that she is not a US citizen and possibly here illegally. If true, she should at least be deported if she is not going to be jailed.

Reminds me of what a lawyer on a local radio show said years ago.
Basically he said if you want to kill someone, use your car, its probably going to be considered an accident. Use a gun and go away for years.

It just seems odd to me that you can be charged with murder if a cop kills someone while he is responding to a felony crime you are committing, yet if you personally kill multiple people while you are breaking 2 laws - you get basically nothing.

That doesn't seem backwards to you?

trust me I know. I spent a poriton of my life as an auto claims adjuster. I just am astonished everytime a thread similar to this comes up that so many people have absolutely zero clue what happens in the real world in these situations.

Shit, laura bush killed one of her classmates by running a stop sign when she was 17 years old.
