THIS is what you get when you vote in a Democrat!

Heard this on the toob this morning...found it at Fox: www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,165573,00.html

Washington Workers Union Flexes Muscle:

Saturday, August 13, 200

WASHINGTON — Government workers in the state of Washington are being hit with a tough choice — if they want to keep their jobs, they have to join the union or pay a hefty union fee.

"I don't like being forced. I don't like being told either join the union or I lose my job," said state employee Sharon Mathews.

The Personnel Reform Act passed in 2002 gives managers more flexibility in hiring, firing and outsourcing. It also allowed the workers union to bargain directly with the governor on provisions of their contracts. After taking office this year, Democratic Gov. Christine Gregoire gave state workers a raise and then gave the union the power to have any worker fired who didn't either join or fork over a representation fee of up to $45 per month.

"I think a lot of us jumped on the bandwagon out of fear," said another state employee, Kristie Hubble.

The measure also allows the union to challenge reforms in the law, including making it easier to fire bad workers or outsource jobs.

"It means that a rogue manager isn't going to be the final say. They've got a contract they can use as a weapon to beat back unfair treatment, unfair treatment as far as contracting out," said Tim Welch, director of public affairs for the Washington Federation of State Employees.

The federation has nearly doubled its membership since Gregoire's changes. It's income also nearly doubled to what is now nearly $10 million. Officials say it's only fair that all workers join since all workers benefit from the federation's contract negotiations with the state.

Business representatives say they worry the union's increased political muscle will drive up already high labor costs.

"There will be increased political activity and they will have just by the sheer numbers of people involved in their union and by the share of dollars they'll receive there will be increased clout," said Dan Brunell of the Washington Business Association.

Union leaders say they're even-handed when it comes to political donations, but the numbers from the 2004 election tell a different story. Seventy-five percent of the union's candidate contributions went to Democrats. The union also gave $200,000 to the Democratic Governors Association and paid $250,000 to the state Democratic Party to underwrite the third vote count that finally put Gregoire into office.

This is fucking NUTS! The unions are dictating policy for the entire fucking state! Every single government job, every single government contract, every single business entity doing business with the government, in the state or in any way earning their living with the state will be affected.

Now, if the unions don't like something about their labor agreement, they can simply go to the fucking LIBERAL DEMOCRAP IN THE STATE HOUSE and get HER to intervene in their favor! HOLY SHIT!!! This IS an unholy alliance between unions and government!!!

ALL the citizens of that state are now going to pay for everything in higher fees and increased costs to fund the union thugs.

THIS is what that victory for the liberals meant to the state of Washington! DAMN I'd be in court so fucking fast their heads would spin.

WAKE UP AMERICA!!! This is what will happen nationwide if HILLARY wins in '08!!!

It's like that with a lot of companies. Have to be Union to secure a contract.

Unions are overwhelmingly run by the mafia. Corrupt scumbags that use their unions to enslave people to their system. That way they have complete control of the workforce.

My favorite part: "They've got a contract they can use as a weapon to beat back unfair treatment, unfair treatment as far as contracting out," said Tim Welch

It's UNFAIR to contract with someone affordable? It's UNFAIR to expect you to be competitive. Holy smokes.....

If it wasn't for the unions there would be no middle class....just like it used to be, before the unions were organized....and for the record, over 40% of union members do not vote Democrat....

...and, for the record, 94% of their union's political
contributions go to Democrats.

Save the "Workers of the World, Unite!" speak for
the rest of your collectivist breathren. Unions are
the antithesis of and a hinderance to capitalism.

I thought Henry Ford created the middle class when he figured out that if he paid people more they'd buy his cars.

Why is he wrong?

I'd like to participate in going over this stuff again but it's been done to death. Use the archive feature to look up the pros and cons. Arguing about this is just like like arguing about abortion, religion, sex, race and a dozen other subjects as you convince no one and no one convinces you to change any opinions. And if you think this is a cop-out, I don't really give a shit one way or the other.

Prove it. Can you? lets hear it in sound economic terms.

Well?

Or are you just repeating the mantra that they keep telling you and you accept because you assume everyone, like you and your union brethren, is too stupid to make a real living without having to depend on collectivism and government protection to force an employer to pay you more than you are worth?

I am waiting.

Yet unions give over 90% of thier political funds to democrats. Which makes union members who vote republican either stupid or hypocrites...... but all union members are hypocrites because they think they should be able to earn thier money in a government restricted non-free market, but spend that same money in a free captialistic system.

That statement was true in the '50s and '60s. It no longer is.

The core issue here is the now codified alliance between .gov and .union thug.

The governor and the Dems socialists now running Washingon State are not even trying to keep their relationship covert.

Consider this: Do any of you think for one fucking second that if the Republicans were in power and they tried this sort of shit with the "robber baron" capitalists, to say, the detriment of the union thugs, the outcry would be now echoing off of the Rockies?

The unions have taken over and the citizens will pay in the long run.

Like I said...THIS is the sort of shit we will experience if Hillary wins in '08. We will see a revival of the unions as they get their payback.
