Ngog,
about 4 years ago I have been in the same situation. Had to bridge over 2 months of unemployment. Sucked! Anyhow I did a search on the internet and went for a reputable but cheap insurer. Much cheaper than cobra - which I didn't even start.
I went for an annual deductable of $2200. Quite high, but I wasn't concerned with a $100 doctor visit for the flu; my concerns were more along the risk of sudden illness or surgery. Fall from a step break your shoulder in an awkward way and whoopsie you're $25,000 poorer for the operation.
It was a PPO plan too. The HMO counterpart would've been even cheaper, but I don't like people to tell me where I have to go for medical treatment. I think I paid $165 per month for my wife, son and myself.
$300 per month for 3 month of unemployment plus the 3 months of grace period from your new employer = 6 months*$300=$1800... YIKES!
How about 6*$165=$990... much better! That's a $810 difference.
Well, do your own math...
Back then I used BlueShield/BlueCross in the PDRK.
Best of luck to you!!
