Years ago my Dad, FIL, and I flew from KPDK to Tara Field for the NASCAR race. (you thoght trafic was bad in a car after a race? Try sitting in a 182 with every jet in the state of NC in front of you).
Anyways, we were approacing the pattern on the return trip at roughly dusk. There was a LOT of traffic. (My dad works and flies out of PDK just about daily for the last 20 years. He's familiar with the area and procedures) Control was beyond confused. Dude was a little bit of a noob expecting a slow Sunday afternoon I guess. I am not a pilot and even I knew this guy was way out of his league. As he called out our #s and gave us instructions that sounded erily familiar (he just had given them to someone else) my Dad said "Screw this". It was right them that you heard a new voice on the comms. VERY calm lady (whom my Dad called out by name) got e'rything back in control quickly. That was...interesting. ("Dicey" as my Dad, a retired F4 driver, called it).
BTW, Coolest trip w/ Dad was KATL to KDTS in a Barron. Control at Eglin called traffic coming from our 6. Looked over to the right a few second later and here come 2 F 15s. Dad called "Tally HO!" and got a chuckle from the Fighter jocks. They asked if he was gonna roll in on them.
