I am looking for an ultrasonic cleaner for a variety of purposes - one being the occasional gunpart (bolt, casings, etc) as well as the wife's jewelry and the odd parts that pop up from time to time.

I've seen "case cleaners" from Hornady and Lyman that don't seem to be very effective - and the "jewelry" cleaners look like absolute crap.   I am looking for something with a little more value and effectiveness.

I found this one: http://www.sterlingtime.com/sh150.html but it only has a 6"x5" x 3"deep tray and is somewhat small.     Anyone have any experience or sources to share?

I have a smaller crest ultrasonic unit that is fantastic. It's not huge but can fit a BCG in the basket no problem.

I think I paid about $500 for it.

All of the items you list can be cleaned using the same equipment and method as a ton of folks are now using to clean brass. Satinless Steel media and a Thumblers Tumbler.

I used to be a manufacturing jeweler and nothing you mentioned would run any risk of being hurt by this cleaning process.

In the dental field a commonly used brand is SonixIV, you might find one on ebay for cheap. New they can be several hundred to over a grand depending on size.

I bought a 8" x 6" Chinese one off fleabay for $75, works like a fucking champ.

Not sure why a $500 one is better, but trust me the stuff I throw in there can't get any cleaner than it comes out.

I buy used lab equipment from LabX.com.  Right now there is a Branson brand model 2200 ultrasonic cleaner (bath size 9 x 5 x 4 inches), for auction, with a $100 buy it now option.  If I needed one I'd jump on it.  It's a good deal.
