Why not send it to Smith & Wesson?

Honest question, their guns have a lifetime warranty, is this not included in that?

^ This.
Customer Service folks usually get calls from customers raising hell.
Call them, be nice, tell them how much you love their products, ask if they can repair your favorite pistol.  And they may give you a break.

They fixed my old S&W 4516 for free.

Add "Old'' before revolvers.

All my ancient tech revolvers go bang extremely well.

Is that part getting impacted or in some kind of unplanned interference fit the engineers didn’t account for?

Not blaming you but just curious.

It seems like a firing pin safety should  never experience a hard impact unless the hammer was falling when it shouldn’t and causing the firing pin safety to stop the firing pin.  In normal operation wouldn’t it just be pushed out of the way by another piece before the hammer is released?

I think it can be bound when working the trigger quickly. There is a tab that is broken off from the pic. That tab is activated by a transfer bar thats ran by the trigger.

Both times it worked flawlessly until it all of a sudden didnt

Contacted smith this week and they have contacted me back about either getting the parts sent to me or sending the gun in

I opted for getting the parts so I can fix it and punt it down the road

Find a used older J frame, you will be much happier than new production.

I had a Bodyguard snubbie... it broke (small internal parts involved in rotating cylinder). I sent it to S&W, they fixed it free of charge, and it worked fine but I never trusted it again. I don't get the mating of steel and polymer on revolvers. Either way I traded it in on a S&W 642 Performance Center and have been very happy with something that is "tried and true", the 642 is as good as it gets in terms of snubbies.

I've since added a Model 60 Pro Series too...

I say get it repaired and trade it in on a 642.  You'll be more confident in what you're carrying.

YES!!!  I don’t know why you bought that turd over a 442, but now you can rectify that mistake.

This does not make a good argument for “revolvers are more reliable than semi autos”
Sucks for OP having something have that many problems.

The new Bodyguard revolvers are a shitty example to use for reliability.  Smith screwed the pooch on them.

Jesus now that gun is going back too

I rarely pop them open

The 586 has here and there had failures to fire. Figured the mainspring was getting a little weak through the years

Popped it open and the hammer and pin came right out

Took me a moment to remember the pin isnt suppose to move

Man I remember something funky going on with this gun

Its kinda why it got put by the way side. Just every now and again it wouldnt fire.

Smith probably thinks Im running a revolver repair center out of my place

Popped my 66 just to make sure all is well there and it is fine for the time being

Smith no longer does lifetime on J-frames & hasn't for several years now.

Shot the 642 and boy its got a bit sting to it

I dont recall similar loads being as painful to the shooter in the BG38

I still haven't gotten around to taking apart my Model 29 Classic to see what the fuck went wrong with it.    Hammer push that is gritty and inconsistent so I'm hoping it's just debris.  Less than 100rds through it.
