I drive to see a buddy and all down the neighborhood all the other homes have American flags on them in obvious response to this frikin asshole. My buddy was with me and he said pull over and he got out and was walking up to the flag to remove it and the guy came home!

As the guy pulled past (I was blocking his drive way) my buddy got back in and we drove off. He turns around and follows me and at a stop light rolls down his window and asks what we were doing in a heavy euro-trash german accent. He even looked like Gunter himself. I said we had the wrong address and he obviously did not buy it.

Anyway, this fuker is on my list now. Since revenge is best served up cold what should I do? (No, I will not physically hurt the commie or burn his house down) but a small infraction might be in order eh?

I assume he is a UN delegate/intern ect...in the big city or something.

Let's see, give me some ideas and I'll add a poll soon.

Reverse the situation. You've got a big NRA flag in your yard and some Million Mommy Bitch sneaks into your yard and takes the flag. What would you say then?

I concur on leaving him alone. This guy sounds like the bottom of the barrel scum that should probably be kicked out of the country, but that's just not how we do things unfortunately. Now that doesnt' mean you can't get creative with your own display.

I'm thinking you might want to fly or otherwise showcase your own special UN flag that has seen lots of TLC. You also might want to consider a creative display of a baby blue UN helmet.

Whatever you do, it must be accompanied by the BIGGEST American flag you can find.

I got no beef either, as long as there's an American flag flying over it.

Nothing bakes my noodle more than seeing someone flying another countries flag by itself while living in America. The most logical conclusion I can come up with from such a display is that the flag flyers don't give a shit about america and just intend to use it like a cheap hooker in order to further themselves.

Actually it's not respect. I absolutely do not respect these people. I do however believe. I believe that they have the Constitutional right to express themselves as guarenteed by the first amendment.

These people of course, are idiots. Hey, I can say that too!!!!

I, have the 1st amendent right to say that the United Nations is a worthless communist institution based and organized predominately on whatever money the United States gives them.

Of course you can say that and feel that way but coming down to taking the flag or anything else that is not respectful of their rights is wrong.

Do whatever you want to "Blue Helmut". What's he going to do, pass a resolution to sanction your yard? Or maybe send his kids over as a peacekeeping force- oh wait! He'd have some american kids go do that for him..

The Blue Helmet. Sounds like a name for a gay bar!

Just as we have the 2nd ammendment, we also have that darn pesky 1st amendment, (freedom of speech).
Link Posted: 8/28/2004 12:36:21 AM EST
Actually, this could turn into a pretty good debate.

Should we, as freedom loving conservative Americans support the right of people to endorse organizations that we KNOW will lead to the downfall of life as we know it?

Where is the line? At what point is OK to say, "Not in my country?"

"Calls to prayer" broadcast for Muslims via loudspeaker in Detroit...

UN flags...

We all know we can't sustain our Country and lifestyles if we never say, no.

How do you balance that?

Seriously - I'm not trolling. I struggle with this very question.

I think our country currently is perfect. The second we draw a line is the second it is no longer our country, but whoever drew the line on what can be done and what not.

Of course.

I would love to take their flag and burn it... but I'm a law abiding citizen.. I'd rather buy the UN flag and then burn it.

Actually, I'd rather save my money and not worry about it.
Link Posted: 8/28/2004 12:39:42 AM EST
heres a different approach -- write the guy a "Dear Neighbor ..." letter
explain to him that the flag is a source of controversy and dredges up bad feelings about certain incidents that have happened and related to the UN, and you would hate to see his home a victim of vandalism because of his flag.

Fair enough. You know we're being out-bred by those who think differently, and little has been done to stop illegal immigration. Inaction will surely be the downfall of us. I'm not advocating violence at this point, I'm just observing.

Half the time, you people are bitching about how insidious the UN is, how they're plotting to take your guns, and enslave our population. The other half of the time, you're bitching about how ineffectual and undermined the UN is, all rhetoric and no action.

WHICH IS IT?

Fuck the UN, and fuck their flag. You may as well swap it out for a United Federation of Planets flag, Star Trek has had a bigger impact on our way of life than the UN ever has.

His flag. His property. His right to display it.

His right to be ignorant.

Do nothing, just laugh at him. Don't reinforce his stereotypes about "intolerant" americans, which I assure you he holds, mostly to make himself feel superior - "above" the rest of you.

Much as I'd be irritated to see an UN flg pop up in my rural neighborhood, the guy has every right to fly whatever flag he wants. His property, he can do what he pleases. I know if my neighbor came on to my land to take something, regardless of what it was, he'd be in for an ass-kicking, acompanied by a gun barrel stuck in his face. (and I HAVE had issues with his guests vandalizing my property in the past).

He has every right to be an ignorant asshole. I know plenty of them around here, and we're not free to tresspass and commit theft or vandalism, however much we'd like to. Ostracize the guy, play loud music, drive him out if you want. But you've got no right at all to tresspass/vandalize him.

You'd sure as hell be pissed if someone came onto your property and stole your US flag, your Rebel flag, your NRA flag, or whatever else.

Basic First Amendment issue. He can fly what he wants. <rant on> Of course freedom of speech only applies to liberal points of view <rant off> . I would fly my favorite flag, the "Rattlesnake Flag of 1775", the one which says "Don't tread on me!" Or, the "Bonnie Blue Flag, that bears a Single Star!"
