I heard this reported on the radio and went to abc's site to find the article. There is mention about Americas gun laws, but the abc reporters are really playing up the "ease of which terrorists can get guns due to Americas soft gun laws."
The bastards are going to try and use this and the gun show loophole BS to push for more restrictions.

This quote says alot.

Screw em. Just another attempt to destroy American freedoms. Instead of more gun laws maybe we shouldn't allow British ownership of assets in the USA. If there's a problem why doesn't the local LE agency "train" a little at the camp. This could be a base for the leftests to target the ranges we shoot at under the guise of fighting "terrorism".

Ya know what? I've got an even better idea. Why don't we DEPORT any arab that isn't a US citizen in good standing? And keep an eye on the rest...

I'm sure the gun laws in the USA are more lax than the 3rd world cesspools these "people" come from. What a load of socialist crap!

I'm afraid you're right redray. That might "offend"  the tangos commited to the destruction of our women, children and ourselves not to mention our freedom. We must maintain the PC standards the left has structured for us. Sad state of affairs. [V]

The really stupid thing is, AK's and other FULL AUTO assault weapons are bought and sold on the open market in most third world cesspools for what we pay for a couple of used USGI 30 round mags or a case of wolf ammo with no questions asked, cash and carry. Buy a shitload of weapons, load em on a ship container and bring em on in !!!  IIRC, they only check 10% or less of the containers offloaded at our docks.

If you think that is bad, I was flipping through the channels shortly after 9/11 and stopped when I saw an interview with a terrorist supporter who was just back from fighting in Kashmir. This man claims he and others were sent to the U.S. to receive weapons training at a facility staffed almost exclusively by former U.S. Special Forces personnel.
When the interview was over, the program staff began commenting about how shocked they were that former U.S. military personnel would
sell out their country and involve themselves in such activities. No specific facilities named during the program.
I hit the display button on my remote to bring up the listing/schedule and it said it was the 700 club.  I have no idea if it was or not because I never watched the 700 club before and have not watched it since. I did search for an online transcript of the program on the same day, but I found nothing so I never brought it up on any forums.

It was hardly a 'terrorist training camp' on purpose (any more than the flight schools were for 9/11), although that appears to be what the suspects were using it for.

What we had here was a place like 'Thunder Ranch' or 'Front Sight' offering firearms training (with NFA weapons in this case, IIRC) to interested customers. The suspect individuals were running a racket where they arranged for their compatriots to come to the US and take this course. The companies, who otherwise provide a usefull (and profitable, considering the cost of a NFA AK47, and the possible interest of getting to fire a full-auto gun 'just this once') service. The terrorist-wannabes were just taking advantage (AGAIN).

The lefties may make a stink, but we can't just shut down every school and training facility that terrorists might want to use. Immagine if they did this to flight schools because of 9/11...

Alot of the Al Queda leadership probably has US military training. Remember, these guys were our FRIENDS in the 80s (when they were killing Russians, and begging us for SAMs). As for the recent underlings, they probably took a course at a place like I described in my last post. The guys who trained them were probably never told what they wanted to do with their training (seriously, would you tell a retired US spec-ops soldier 'I want you to teach me to fight, so I can kill your friends and countrymen?'), and it probably happened befor 9/11.

Try this now, and (like these british goons) see how long it takes before you get 'visited' by the FBI/CIA/et al... The system worked here, and let's hope it gets better...

So now "preparing for jihad" is illegal? Half this board is preparing for "jihad", myself included. Ain't much difference.

Unless you are breaking laws (and as far as I'm concerned, that doesn't include anti-constitutional restrictions on your RKBA, freedom of assembly etc) or hurting people, I don't care what you do. If a bunch of Arab Americans want to practice tactics, big whoohoo. Last I checked, we are not currently bombing 9/10ths of the Arab world. Personally I believe we're bombing the wrong 1/10th, but that's another story. This ABC news crap is just more scare tactics bs by pro-police state fools.

And you jackasses who think the solution is kicking certain racial groups out, concentration camps, etc, get real. A very small percentage of white gunowners are criminals - should that give the gov't license to treat us all like criminals?

to quote the locals:  "them boys has got some balls settin up shop in Bama"  i would think alabama would be one of the LAST places youd want a terrorist training camp post 9/11. those rags are dumb as shit. all it would take is for one good ol boy to discover it and spread the story around at piggly-wiggly and cooter's garage and that would be all she wrote!

What I liked best was the British guy babble about how it amazes him that any American can recive "high quality para-military training". He was shocked that these places were not illegal.

That whole segment was a joke. Then again, ABC has always been the Liberal lap dog.

Oh no - we wouldn't want to offend any dirt bag terrorists by making them leave a place they have no business being.

But trampling the Constitution? Yeah, THAT'S how you fight terrorism.

If we could just un-invent the gun, all the terrorists would become nice little people. Its the #$@* guns that are keeping the terrorists from letting their inner child come out.[/sarcasm]

I read the article.

Its low on facts, low on documentation, low on proof, high on speculation, rumors, sensationalism and scare tactics. Oh, its also high on British moral superiority, as they craft "sensible" gun laws, assuring  only criminals have guns in their country.

Frogs may be disgusting, but Brits are asses.

My solution to the problem of terrorists enrolling in flight schools etc would be to do a background check similiar to that of buying a gun, if they check within 24 hours you're good to go.

I don't know if anyone remembers, but during the VietNam war, the news media reported that the US Army had burned down a Vietnamese village; of course it never happened because it was made up by the news media. The management laster said that if "could have happened" and the subject was forgotten. Those folks are still on the air. I believe it was most of the crew on CBS' 60 Minutes.

Shouldn't passing the instant check to own the gun in the first place be good enough? I mean, now you're talking about a govt that already mistrusts it's own citizens as much as it does the tangos, having a list of who's "training". Correct me if I'm wrong, but a tango operative that's not a US citizen (and shouldn't be in the country anyway, IMO) doesn't have any "gun rights" anyway. That's reserved for citizens that are protected by the Constitution.
