I've often imagined something like that happening (while driving in a windstorm). I always tell myself it'll never happen because the odds are too low. On a long enough timeline all odds approach 100%.

I was deer hunting after a bad ice storm here. There was no way in hell I was going into the wooded areas. All I could hear from time to time were branches and whole trees snapping and falling. One branch I observed from a distance was at least 2' thick!

and he was at work.  ups will fork out a ton of $ to his family.

my ex-wife went on a business trip to Italy.  halfway to London, the plane started filling up with smoke and was pointed downwards.  she told me later that if that plane had crashed and she was killed i would have been a seriously wealthy man, and had a job offer from IBM on the table.

pity that.

A widow maker almost got my Dad many years ago on a family camping trip. There was a broken branch in a tree, the wind blew and it fell and landed about 6ft from him. It was about 20ft long and a probably 100lbs or more. It was the first time I have ever heard the term widow maker. Sad to hear about that, prayers out to his family.

I know a girl that was driving down a neighborhood street when a tree fell and landed on her car. She was fine but the car was totaled.

my uncles truck held up a giant oak tree from going all the way through my grandmas house and crushing my aunt and cousin
big branch pierced the cab and busted the tranny housing and smashed it flat to the ground. tree came through the roof but the truck held it about 4 feet above the bed my cousin and aunt were sleeping in.

oddly enough my aunt and cousin didnt live there...dunno why they were staying there that night
and my unce didnt live there either. he was working nights and stopped by on his lunch break to eat something not sure why on that either
a whole bunch of stuff came together when it all could have gone really wrong that night

I had a very large tree in my front yard topple over in an ice storm and if it had fallen in a different direction it would have landed on me sleeping in my bed maybe 15 feet from the tree.

That had to have been the dumbest fucking movie I had ever seen. I can't believe I endured the whole thing just to see if it would get any better.

That was annoying, it seemed like it really could get better. Instead it stayed stupid the whole time.

He was my neighbor. Hell of a guy that would anything for ya. Like someone said, the odds of that happening. Enjoy your time while ya got it. My third buddy who died while working. RIP Todd.
