Two Oklahoma Officers Shot On Domestic Dispute Call

GROVE, Okla. (AP) -- A man barricaded in a garage in the Grand Lake area shot two law enforcement officers and then was shot himself, police said. The three men's wounds were not life-threatening.

Delaware County Sheriff's Deputy Denny Martin and Grove police officer Dave McCracken went to a home at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday where Coby Livesay, 30, was in his parents' garage. Livesay had a shotgun and refused to leave.

He fired shots at the officers as they approached and the officers returned fire, said Oklahoma State bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Jessica Brown.

McCracken, a 15-year veteran of the Grove Police Department, was taken by helicopter to Saint John's Hospital in Joplin, Mo. He received pellet wounds to the chest and abdomen. McCracken underwent surgery and was stabilized.

Martin reported to the Grove General Hospital, where he was treated for pellet wounds to the right arm, Assistant Police Chief Mark Morris said.

Livesay was shot in the arm and hand and also was taken to the Grove hospital, Brown said. Livesay will be arrested on a complaint of shooting with intent to kill, OSBI Special Agent Steve Nutter said.

The news reports last night made it sound like the officer with wounds to the chest wasn't wearing a vest.

Grove is a nice little town. But like so many here, it's getting over run with Meth-heads and other shitbags.

Note that two of the three were hit in the arm or hand.  During self defense shootings the arms/hands are often in the way of the vitals, plus you tend to focus on the other persons weapon.

Of the Grove cops that I've seen lately, it was pretty obvious that they were wearing vests. Its not something that conceals well. Also I rarely wore mine in the summer because they are very hot.

A domestic dispute almost got two more LEO's.  Man that is a tough job.
