Investigators said the boys' parents became alarmed late Wednesday
evening when they didn't come home. After a search turned up no sign of
their sons, they called police.

Officials searching a snow bank at a health center nearby found the
boys at around 2 a.m. Thursday, after an officer saw a shovel half
buried. The officer took the shovel and started to dig, and saw a small
boot. Others joined in, some digging with bare hands, and the boys were
found.

When I was a kid I almost got buried by my dad when he was plowing the driveway.   I dug out a snow fort in a bank created by a previous plow session.  While hanging out inside of it, he pushed another pile right next to the "fort".  It would've completely buried me had he been 3 feet to the right.

After that, I wasn't allowed to play outside while he was plowing.  Even at a young age I could tell the incident really bothered him.  It wasn't something he even considered happening until it almost did.

Shitty situation all the way around.  Glad the kids are going to make it.

Newburgh? Should have left them in there.

When I was growing up we weren't allowed to play in snow banks for that reason.
