Officer Jill Manders was struck by two bullets during Thursday's neighborhood shootout between police and a resident, Duluth police
Chief Randy Belcher said Tuesday.

Now police must determine if both shots came from the same gun.

At least one of those shots was a 5.7x28mm bullet from a pistol carried by Duluth police supervisors, Gwinnett District Attorney Danny
Porter said.

"That's hard on everybody," Belcher said. "There's no way to actually tell yet. . . . Until the ballistic tests are done, it's kind of a
guessing game."

Duluth police supervisors carry Five-seveN pistols, which use bullets that can penetrate Kevlar helmets and bullet-resistant vests,
according to the gun manufacturer's Web site.

This isn't going to be too hard to figure out.

5.7x28 is so distinctive and rare in this country.

Police can't be trusted with guns!  We need a law against letting law enforcement people have guns!  Just give them paintball guns and clubs!

Oh, won't someone PLEASE think of the children!

Wow, Duluth copps get Five-seveN's?  Duluth's a small city in Minnesota, strange cops would have something exotic like 5.7x28mm guns.

Why are LE officers running amuck with FN five/sevens? Are P-90's next?

Sorry, but it's time for the average LEO to be issued a nightstick, and a whistle,if they keep shooting eachother..

I wasn't under the impression that this happened often enough to be a problem.

As long as the public is armed (and I hope it always will be) the police should be as well.

It's apparently Duluth Georgia, not Duluth Minnesota.  It was reported in the Atlanta newspaper & the story refers to Gwinnett County.  There is no Gwinnett County in MN.
