The craziest part isn’t that 23-year-old Mary Lambright drove her 30-ton truck onto this tiny bridge built in 1880. It’s that she knew that the bridge’s weight limit was six tons. She just didn’t know how many pounds that was.

Seriously, that’s what she told the police after the crash on Christmas, as they note in their report:

Ms. Lambright was aware of the iron bridge stating she had driven on it several times in her personal vehicle and was also aware of the posted signage “no semis, weight limit of 6 tons”. When asked by Paoli Police why she continued through the bridge knowing the weight limit was only 6 tons she admitted to not knowing how many pounds that was. She was advised the weight of the vehicle at the time of the crash was close to 30 tons.

I don't think I would stand where those folks are standing in that photo.

Looks like it was too tall for the bridge as well.

On the other hand, fix your shit, or make it an actual museum or something if you want some kind of historic treasure to last forever.  If you USE something it's going to wear out.  She just did it a few years early.

Unless they have to go up a hill, then they drop down to 40mph while being passed by another truck doing 41mph
Link Posted: 12/28/2015 3:46:04 PM EDT
The biggest mistake she made was not doing it at full speed.

Believe me, that area of Indiana is not hipster. It's rural and poor, they don't have the money to put in a new bridge.
Link Posted: 12/28/2015 3:51:52 PM EDT
they'll probably build a 40 ton capacity bridge now

The article says her truck was closer to 30 tons. 30 tons equals 60,000 pounds.

Are you a truck driver?

Who the hell only gets loaded to 60k?
She is a skidmark on truck driving societies underwear.
Maybe she should have done the sleep apnea test and she would have known her weight.

They need to permanently yank her CDL. She and her company should pay for repairs.  They are idiots for hiring her.

Also not sure how to remove truck from bridge that looks like it's going to be a PITA
