I have a source for a reasonably priced Trjicon 1x24 Reflex sight, but I haven't had the chance to see one in person or even get the dimensions. I can spend more and get the RMR, but it will cut into my accessory budget for other guns. Is the Reflex II going to be gigantic on my Ruger Mk III Target? Will the RMR be small enough to warrant almost 200 bucks more?

I want a tough, non battery dependent reflex sight for my 22 pistol, so my choices are pretty much limited to Trijicon's offerings.

*I moved this to GD to get some more exposure.

I live my Reflex 2's, but the newer 42mm RX30 Reflex just blows the hold Reflex 2 out of the water. Better in every way.

What makes it better? I would love the extra FOV, but I'm trying to keep weight/bulk down. Comparing the 2 models will it make that much difference in handling?

Either would be a bit bulky on a handgun.

Thanks for the input. I couldn't pass it up for the price and how rugged it will certainly be. The idea was to get a fast and accurate sighting system that will be just as tough as the gun itself. I put alot of trigger time on the Ruger 22's with much more to come in the next few months. If it's smaller than some of those Tasco tube style red dots at Walmart I'll be very happy.

start practicing with your wrist locked into the position you shoot in because finding the reticle in the smaller Reflex's window is going to take time.

Sorry to be late getting back, the newer Reflex RX30's are quite a bit larger than the old Reflex 2's-they are the same size as a Meprolight-21 sight but better made and brighter.

Well, I put an EOTech 512 on my 22/45, so yeah...a reflex is more than small enough to fit.

Check out the Optics forum, there is a sale on Docter Optics mini RDS's going on for an unbelievable price. They use CR2032's and have an auto brightness sensor. I had one when I had the scope mount for my HK mark23, and it was an awesome red-dot, I sold it to a buddy for his Swiss Arms rifle (for a piggyback on his scope)

SWFA bringing them in: HERE

They are ULTRA light, and very durable (not as strong as an Aimpoint Micro, or the trijicon) but would survive a good bump. They are VERY shock proof, they were designed to go on the slide of a handgun!

ETA

battery life is pretty good too, with the "shell" on it goes to sleep for a battery life of about 5 years, with the shell off, it will last for about a year in normal indoor conditions (IIRC from the manual).

I was looking at the Meprolight before I bought the R2. I couldn't find too many reviews so I passed.

After reading that I think I'll be alright.
