There used to be some skilled trades jobs that americans without a formal education could make a good living doing. Contruction and auto repair for men, and waitressing for women. Those jobs paid well enough that you could raise a family on that income. In Southern California legal citizens have been practically forced out of that market by illegal immigrants. You rarely see american born english speaking construction workers here anymore.

My brother makes a living working highway construction. He makes damn god money doing it too, over $30.00 an hour. I wonder if he will have a job when his employer figures out an illegal will do it for $20.00 an hour under the table?

IRS will not care because the employer/employee will pay income tax and SS/FICA on a fake SSN. Don't assume all illegals are hired/paid under-the-table.

Horrible quality. Sloppy workmanship. No pride in the product.

Whether it's a burger at a burger joint, a yardfull of landscaping or a construction jobsite - quality has been dropping like a rock for the past 10-20 years.

When was the last time you saw a non-immigrant lawn care crew? I have no problem if they came in legally, but I have serious doubts that many if not most did it the right way.

Yep, they pay into the bogus accounts, with zero intention of ever withdrawing the money. It's a win-win situtation for the employer and the government. I once worked on a long-term disability system for a major department store in So. Calif, and the system had problems because it was keyed on SSN assuming that each SSN was unique, but we had SSNs with multiple different names.

My mom had to look around hard to find a yard crew and a painting crew without Mexicans in it. She hired one yard company on the condition that Mexicans not be in the yard crew. Mexicans didn't show up the first time around, but the 2nd crew was all Mexican. Needless today, they were not invited back to cut the lawn a 3rd time. Finding a good all-native house painting crew wasn't as hard, and they did a fine job on the trim.

In my area there is one illegal lawn care crew and they have been busted before.
The rest are owned by either cops or firemen who run them on their days off.

They seem to be getting into auto shops as well.

The other day I had my car serviced at a local shop that has a good reputation of quality work, only to find that the mexicans forgot to change the oil filter.

So, I took the car back and got a new oil and filter change for free.

I think I'll go back to doing it myself, like I have for the past 25+ years.

I don't care what anyone says, but I work for a roofing company and we've hired plenty of white and black crews before. The majority just don't like doing the work, and they do crappy work at that. They'd rather sit on their ass with a nail gun and pop in shingles without watching what they are doing. While most of the mexican, hispanic, hell we even had an italian crew. They didn't mind getting on that roof wtih a hammer and doing the job correctly.

Trust me...... The shit looks a LOT different after you've been in the business for so many years.

And it's as much the fault of the dirtbags who HIRE all the fence jumpers, as the fence jumpers themselves. They sure like all that extra loot in their pockets, that they dont have to pay anymore to the gov't and/or benefits, etc.

It's a bad situation, and it's only going to get worse, unless there's a HUGE crackdown on the illegal issue.

Don't see that happening though, to be quite honest.

Want cheap labor? Then you will get cheap results from your employees.

And the funny thing, the new wave of ilegals has put the last wave out of work. The new guys are willing to work for even less money than last weeks illegal!

Pretty soon, they will have to work for free or even to PAY for the privelage of having a job.

Anything below high end/fine cooking in the culinary industry. And the only reason why they are not taking over the high end is because you just can't show someone how to do what we do and expect them to produce. You really don't want someone who you can't talk to straight and does not understand cooking destroying $50+ in sauce ingredients.

Anything under that, and if you are not a illegal, you will be pushed out by the others. I recall a time when your first job was fast food..not anymore.

And for the record, I don't hate Mexicans. I hate people who violate our laws, don't assimulate into our culture and think they are better than us. If they are here legally, welcome to the US! If you are illegal-GO HOME!

I think someone already this on a list, but the illegals are taking over the prostitution too!

I once saw an illegal-alien prostitute trying to bum a ride back to her barrio in spanish with a few broken English words thrown in. Ha Ha Ha! I told her I don't speak spanish and watched her go back to knocking door to door. This was around 6:30 am so I guess she just finished her "shift".

Living in PA it will likely be a few more years before you realize the extent of the problem.

While border states do have a larger problem, there is still a problem with illegal immigrants in PA and other non-border states. Loads of illegal mexicans, central americans, middle easterners, and other around here in PA.
