Guy driving is lucky he wasn't killed.

He sat a whole 5-6 ft away from an explosion violent enough to toss a several hundred pound block of metal into the air.....

Second fastest teardown of a long block I've ever seen.

holy fuck..

i think it was running on the lean side as theres no soot/smoke

then theres the fact that tractor pullers run up to and over 100psi of boost...
that said.  that thing blew fucking big... wow..

I think he lost compression.

That's what happens when you use coffee cans for pistons.

I liked when he crossed himself after it blew. Personally, I would've checked my pants first, but that would've definitely been step 2.

Wait a minute...!

Do you mean they have tractor-pulls in the Netherlands?

Do Pantera and the English Leather Girls attend as well?

I hear they sell you the whole seat but you'll only need the edge...

Looked like an I6 with a pair of hairdryers on it, I thought you could make more power with a single turbo?

Crazy that you can still see a couple of the pistons sitting on the frame rail still attached to the rods/crank.  Just the block itself decided to unass the area, leaving everything else below it behind.

FULL PULL!!!! of the motor off the frame.

Most of the big time tractor pull guys will use compound turbocharging whereby one turbo air outlet feeds the next turbo's air inlet. That is most common in aviation and high power diesel motors.

It looks like the one in the video was just running two judging by the bell mouths at the front of it though.

I don't believe you are leaving much if anything on the table with a well designed setup. I only watched the video once, but I thought we saw half the motor come apart meaning the other side still had the second exhaust manifold on it as that would make it a V type motor.

Looks like the block split taking part of the casting and the sleeves with it.

I was at the national tractor pull here.

I am amazed at how much boost these can handle. Well some of them don't hold together.

Just like in the video the head blew off one and the turbocharger flew about 50 feet forward along with other parts of the manifold.

IIRC the boost is around 200PSI on some.

Very cool.

Nice!

There was a video on the nhra site some years back of a run Eddie Hill did where the engine blew and jumped free, he and the other guy pulled chutes, and the engine beat either one of 'em to the finish line.
