New ones? The sequoia is big and spendy.

Seqouia is quite a bit larger, can haul/tow more, and is more thirsty. 4runner should hold its value better, be better offroad, and slightly better mpg.

I had a  2001 Sequoia for ten years.  Sturdy, cush ride, decent towing power/capability, unstoppable in the snow, lots of room for kids and all the associated crap.

And it fucking drank gasoline.  The new ones have an even bigger engine and cost even more.

If I had to choose between the two...  4Runner

I compared the 4Runner with the Highlander when we got a replacement for the Sequoia, and went with the Highlander.

Recently, I've had 3 different people, who don't know each other, refer to the 4Runner as a "Ho-Runner,"

What the hell are they referring to? Doesn't fit the urban dictionary definition of said term.

Depends on what you are doing. Towing? Off Road? Looking good?

Get a Land Cruiser.

Size is between a 4Runner and a Sequoia. Better vehicle.

Two different SUVs, marketed towards two different types of people. It all depends on what you're looking to do with the vehicle.

Seems that a lot of 4Runners around here driven by women. One in ten 4Runners that I see are driven by men. So, perhaps that's where that saying comes from. With that said, it wouldn't surprise me if the next generation of 4Runner went unibody.

I have an '03 Sequoia, which has 4.7L V8. It gets ~15mpg, but it can tow ~6200lbs, which is more than a 4 runner. Just depends on how you want to use it. I use mine to haul around the family and it is handy for Boy Scout outings.

If you don't need the towing capacity or seating for 8, go with the 4 Runner.

Can't really go wrong as both are Toyota's. My wife has a 2000 4Runner she bought new. 190,000 miles and still runs like a top. Gets 18-22 mpg.

You'll see most SUV's go unibody and be wimpified within the next generation or two. Auto manufacturers will have no choice if they want to meet the new CAFE and EPA standards. You will likely have one model from a manufacturer that will remain body on frame but they will end up commanding a premium price.

Pick ups can sort of scam due to the longer wheelbase and different mileage standards. For standard length SUV's, manufacturers don't get that break, they are going to have to pull a few rabbits out of the hat to meet mileage standards or install expensive hybrid or diesel engines which will drive their costs up.

Get the 4Runner. Good comfort and wheeling if needed. If you need bigger, get a Truck.

Depends, I don't hual trailers but like the cargo room of the sequioa. For me the 4 runner is too small to fit 3 adults gear for a weekend.

It's getting to the point where there's been so many Toyota threads, people should just start using search.

4Runner I have owned three.  Bulletproof.  Sequoia is v8 tundra platform, costs more to operate.
